The trouble-prone Porsche that Fast & Furious star Paul Walker was riding in when he died in a crash suffered a mechanical failure that was likely caused by a power steering fluid leak, a new report said Monday.
Sources connected to Always Evolving the auto shop co-owned by Walker and Porsche driver Roger Rodas told the celebrity Web site TMZ that they saw evidence of a fluid burst and subsequent fluid trail before the skid marks at the accident scene. Modal Trigger

The sources said that the lack of skid marks until just before the point of impact suggests the driver didnt have control of the speeding cars steering.
Walker was just tagging along with a pal for a test-drive in a trouble-prone Porsche when they crashed and died, a new report said.

just riding along with a pal in a trouble-proned Porsche. damn.
ya never know.. when.
I suspect a faulty connection between the driver’s brain and good sense.
It doesn’t matter. What caused their deaths was the speed at which they were going, which meant that ANY problem with the car, from a power-steering glitch to a tire blowout, to hitting a deer, was guaranteed to result in a non-survivable crash.
Bull chit
“a mechanical failure”. Like the “Nut” behind the Wheel!
From what I heard on TV last night the car crashed thru 3 trees then a utility pole. The car was hauling butt!
Quick! Sue the garage that last serviced it!
well...that was quick
If a similar failure would have caused an accident if the car was traveling at the posted 40 mph, then this accident was caused by a mechanical failure. If the failure caused the crash because the vehicle was traveling at a speed much greater than 40 mph, then speed caused this accident.
Roads are designed around a certain speed. If the car lost power steering doing 80 mph on a limited access highway, everybody walks away, probably without a scratch. But when you loose power steering on a narrow and twisty road with trees and lightposts right next to the roadway, if you are going 80 mph, you are going to hit something hard hard.
The news report I saw last night said they weren’t going over 45 mph approaching a 15 mph turn. Color me sceptical. I think they are making up B.S. to report .

Testing a trouble prone car at high speed is not a good idea
I see a lot of results of a lot of car crashes in my line of work. That was NOT a 45 mph impact. I agree with those of you who call BS.
Probably survivable in a Nascar chassis.
In a front fuel tank unibody, not so much.
Sure doesn’t look like a 45 mph crash, does it?!
What the brakes stopped working also?
