Generally a bad idea to be texting while driving in a blizzard.

Generally a bad idea to be texting while driving in a blizzard.I'm thinking standing in the middle of the highway in a blizzard while vehicles wreck all around you is also not a great idea.

People pulling off on the right or else, sliding off on the right ... was that water or a snow bank they plowed into?

Some of those cars were clearly going 50+ on icy roads. And I'm certain most of them
didn't have snow tires or 4x4. Same here in Dallas, people were hauling ass on ice
and ending up in the brush. I wanted to give the bird out the window but I care
more about the temp of my middle finger than their stupid asses.

Anyone we know anywhere near this Charlie Foxtrot?
I expect this kind of thing here in NY.
Matter of fact, I might see something like it in a few minutes as I head out to work.

Here in NY that kind of thing would be titled “Highway gods demand the flesh harvest”.

Some of those cars were clearly going 50+ on icy roads. How can people up there not know to slow it down in those type of conditions?

Couple observations: first, check out the car in the right lane ten seconds into the video whose driver manages to swerve to the shoulder and get through unscathed. Heck of a piece of winter driving.
Second, what do some of these people do after they get hit? They get out of their cars AND STAND IN THE DRIVING LANE. Then, a couple of minutes later after they’ve done the sensible thing and go to the shoulder, some of them go BACK.
It’s a minor miracle people weren’t killed here.

I've had some experience on icy roads, but long before anything bad happens, the car or truck tells you that traction is barely there just by the feel.
A little drifting/shimmy on the front end, constantly having to correct.
To me it's comparable to when a car begins to hydroplane on water.
Common sense tells you to slow it down.

That time of day on Sunday? They were probably watching the Packer game on the TV on the dash.

I know. Why people don’t pay attention to those sensations of lack of traction, I don’t know. It could be that some of them are distracted or under the influence of something. Some people simply can’t drive. Some panic.

I'm thinking standing in the middle of the highway in a blizzard while vehicles wreck all around you is also not a great idea. Especially after a few cars have already plowed through the first wreckage. Were those folks trying to get run over?

Dumb people who get out of their car and walk towards the center of the highway.
