Why waste the aluminum? Old southern solution;

Get regular (not instant) grits right out of the box. Sprinkle it around the mound. Do not sprinkle it on the mound. The workers come out and find all of this new wonderful food and take it down for the drones and queen.

So when they add the water in their systems, they just blow up, the mound is now dead.

BTW, this works for all types of ants.

There are way easier ways to kill fire ants. But none nearly as geeky cool. Or as profitable!

Dead fire ants == $2500 right now.

Of course they were. Did you notice them pushing out of the mound during the pouring of the lead?

They bought it on themselves by being in a humanly populated area.
