Duck Dynasty Christmas Special Scores Nearly 9 Million Viewers

Just when it looked like Duck Dynasty‘s rating were dropping slightly, the show’s Christmas special managed to snag nearly 9 million viewers, which is an impressive number for any cable show. It wasn’t quite the whopping 11+ million that the season premiere scored, but still, it proved that the bearded family is definitely one of America’s favorites.

If you happened to miss the Christmas special, some of the highlights included Phil taking Miss Kay and Jessica out pig hunting, leaving Jessica pretty much mortified when she had to help Phil drag a poop covered pig back home. The Robertson family also put on a Nativity story for their church, which they do every year – it was very fun to watch them all dressed up. Of course, in typical Willie fashion, the Duck Commander CEO just had to prove that he was the best gift giver ever! Check out the Christmas special clip below:

Ironically, that DD Christmas Special was the first time I had ever even watch any of their shows. Good stuff and too bad there aren’t more of that type show. In particular, I liked the ending when everyone at the family gathering shares in a prayer of thanksgiving and blessings. To repeat myself, “this country needs more of this type show”.

Nice DD version of the classic Christmas song “Baby it’s cold outside”:

I’ve just recently got into watching it myself. Can’t figure out what really draws me to it, but I look forward to Wednesday night and watch many hours of it.

Thanks for that.

Though the show is funny to watch, its really hard to take them completely serious. I never knew HOW WELL Missy actually sings. SHE IS quite good. And surprisingly, when Jase joined in, they sounded very good. Who woulda thunk it.

"Scores"

It's sad how the drug culture has made it's way into the mainstream.

I watched the Country Music Christmas show last night (rerun from earlier in Dec.) and I was surprised by Willie’s voice. I expected him to not really be able to carry a tune. I was pleasantly surprised!

Yieks. They are losing viewers (under 9 million). I saw their Season Premier was well over 10 million viewers. I like the show, but haven’t watched in awhile. I wonder if they are getting overexposed. They seem to be everywhere now a days. I guess it happens with everyone. I remember when Kate plus 8 and 18 children were the big stories.

They are Church of Christ. Church of Christ do not use any instruments in their worship and it seems God has given them extremely good voices. If you have ever been to a COC service you would swear the congregation goes to choir practice once a week...they all take parts and it sounds like angels singing.

When I was a girl, if Pastor couldn’t hear four-part harmony coming from the congregation on Sunday, he would call a hymn-singing practice.

before getting all upset. What other cable show has 9 million viewers?

If no one made a big deal about the season opener, everybody would be talking about how many viewers this episode got. Its all relative.

The left will focus on the disparity in numbers and focus on that.

That being said. Fame is fickle and fleeting. DD is MARKETING themselves like there is no tomorrow. Because sooner or later, as far as the show and commercialism goes, tomorrow can AND WILL stop coming.

They are making hay while the sunshines. Right now the sun is up. But it very well could be on the down ward side. They are making as much hay as possible.

Between Wally, Kohl’s and whoever else has Duck kiosks, that family has got to be raking in enough royalties to dwarf their per-episode TV fees.
