Reminder: Don't kick snow into a cat's face

Here's a not-so-subtle reminder to leave stray felines alone. A woman who was apparently trying to protect her dog from an ornery cat that she'd taken in kicked a little snow in the feline's face. What could possibly go wrong?

A lot. According to WJBK Fox 2 in Detroit, which aired the video, the cat lept onto the woman's face and clawed at her forehead. The catfrontation with its silent-movie-type visuals can be seen as a tad comic, but the woman in the video did suffer significant injuries, WJBK reports.

The victim told WJBK that she had to go to the hospital after the attack with bite marks on her forehead and claw marks on her cheeks. The attack also led to an infection that caused her face to swell.

I love dogs. I love cats, but they are worlds apart in temperament. Cats are an entity unto themselves, and tolerate people who care for them.

I love both, but not true. Stereotypes undue both ways. Lots of personalities. You have to pick wisely. Wonderful devoted adoring cats to be had as well as lousy nasty dogs.

People don’t realize a pissed-off cat will take on anything and anyone, including pit-bulls.

My Tom Cat likes to play fight, and he can attack so hard and so fast, he almost brought me to my knees out of surprise once.

Some friends of mine had a visitor, a little elderly man with a lot of white hair. The cat was sleeping in the kitchen and when he awoke he looked in the living room where the little man was sitting on the sofa. From the kitchen all the cat could see was the back of the sofa and the top of the little man’s head. The cat thought the white hair was another cat perched on the top of the sofa. The cat ran into the living room and made a flying leap onto the elderly man head. They had to drag the cat off the man’s head. The old guy lived through it.

Looks to me like a cat hater trying to get the cat away from her property. She didn’t just kick a little snow, she kept kicking and kicking till she backed that cat up to whatever that is on the other side of the road.

Guess she won’t do that again.

This woman was stupid in provoking the cat. The cat felt threatened by the kicking movements and the cold snow in its face, so it defended itself. I’ll bet the cat was also previously abused. Why couldn’t she just have taken her small dog up in her arms and walked away? I sure don’t blame the cat for defending itself. Detroit is a rough place to live.
