A very humbling look into the universe... and how small we really are.

Thanks for the post - nicely done.

I'd add this to get a better grasp (compared to the usual distorted/condensed representations) of the size relations in our little solar system...

When you look at how small the Earth and our own solar system is overall.. its like we are nothing!! There is SO much more out there, its hard to comprehend it all...

Very good post. Thanks for helping us get perspective. Here is a similar site that sort of slides this up and down the size scale.

We are in a alien marble.
I saw it in a documentary called Men in Black.

God’s glory is a wondrous thing.

To me the troubling thing is that a noticeable...if not a substantial...percentage of astronomy professors at Harvard,MIT,CalTech and Berkeley,etc are *bound* to be atheists.

How Great Thou Art
O Lord my God! When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works Thy hand hath made.
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.
Refrain:
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee;
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee:
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Verse 2:
When through the woods and forest glades I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze:
(Repeat Refrain.)
Verse 3:
And when I think that God, His Son not sparing,
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin:
(Repeat Refrain.)
Verse 4:
When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration,
And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art!

I agree Creation is vast and we should be justifiably humble. But this Earth is our world — the only one we have. All the vastness of the Universe is out of our reach. And while we can stand in awe of its expanse, it’s HERE that we have to live, to grow, and to make a difference.

That arching vault of the heavens is the Lord’s domain.

That one was amazing - very well done. On an unimportant side note - I had no idea Monaco was so small.
