The fact that those trucks remained steady was VERY impressive. When they were moving farther apart under control, that was amazing control.

Little know fact: Norris did the Volvo commercial dressed in a Van Damme constume because Van Damme was afraid of heights........

Norris did the subject video dressed as himself

That’s not real because Chuck Norris don’t need no jets. He just says “boo” and the earth runs away from him.

For the Chuck Norris clip, they had the planes try to move together.

Did they run the video backwards, start with the split and move forward?

Because the highway seemed to be going the wrong way unless they did this all in reverse.

The clip is being played in reverse. I’d imagine that initially the trucks weren’t moving, but were at the appropriate distance from each other for Van Damme to take his splitz position, then the moved slowly together, allowing him to stand.

That’s what I believe also. Reverse would be much more different. He started out split, they moved slow and the video is played at slower-than-normal speed for dramatic effect. And in reverse.

He appears to have planned on landing on his hands and rolling if something went wrong as he is wearing knuckle-protection.

Still, it is impressive.

The trucks are driving in reverse. It helps make the point of the dynamic steering control.

Ok. I get the gag.

I just don't understand why Chuck's planes aren't going backwards as well. </sarc>

I'd be more impressed with a 'Grudge Match' between the two in a cage; no pulls/no rules, last man standing.

The trucks were in reverse in the Van Damme commercial. If he had fallen, they wouldn't run him over in reverse.

Also, only the left hand truck moves.

“If he had fallen, they wouldn’t run him over in reverse.”

Yes, I had considered that. It looked extremely dangerous had they indeed moved forward, even slowly. He could have accidentally rolled in front of duals and that usually ends very, very bad.

For safety reasons, reverse does make better sense. His balance is impressive. He’s always been able to split like that. Professional drivers are also very impressive.

Those trucks are impressive too. There's video of him getting to drive one and he says it steers just like a car. They are beautiful vehicles.

I also read that there were safety precautions that were edited out. The article didn't state what they were.

I don’t understand why Chuck’s hair and the bottom of his shirt looks like it’s in a 15mph breeze.

Trusting that the camera platform wouldn’t interfere with the C-5A aerodynamics (enough to throw Chuck for a loop, anyway) while flying above the 110+kt stall speed is pretty amazing. I’m very curious as to what that platform was.

The aircrafts’ AoA and the cloud movement rearward suggests they’re well into their cruise speed range, over 160kts. Hmmm. He’d really have to have strong magnets in his shoes working for him to keep from simply being blown off the wing, but even that wouldn’t help much given composite wingtips.

Much as I love Chuck’s work, I vote for green screen trickery.
