Was this written by PajamaBoy?

I get annoyed by writers who confuse "then" and "than", as in:

He was a lot stronger then the other team members.

My late wife was a great student. She graduated OSU with a 3.97 gpa and that was back when there was no such thing as getting an extra credit grade above 4.0.

She was a lot better with grammar than me but there were a couple of areas she almost always used incorrectly.

They were the lie, lay, sit, set, sat, type words.

Take whoever told you that with a grain of salt.

A recent arrival that grates on me, is the use of ‘nevermind’ instead of the correct, ‘never mind’.

The former is a 90s grunge band, while the latter is a common English phrase. Eric Erickson of Red State committed the error in his column today.

it’s and its.

When I first began posting to the internet, I exclusively used 'it's' when writing. One day a very decent and caring person took the time to correct my usage of the word. I'm still grateful to them for doing that.

I have no idea which is correct. I am able to communicate tho.

When I was young, I was a whiz in math but really weak in grammar.

Now as I am approaching 70, I can no longer do math in my head very well and have to have a calculator to add and subtract. I actually think my verbal skills have improved.
