Very nice!

“nine cans of ammo” sounds a bit better though. And it’s more ammo. ;~)

For a true prepper there aren’t 12 days left before Armageddon. Otherwise, why prep?

Go to Walmart tomorrow which will be three days before Christmas now multiple that by a factor of 100, because that's what Walmart will look like 12 days before Armageddon!

So we’ll know ahead of time? How with Harold Camping camping six feet under now? And if so, then why prep?

I prep even for that. I have a couple body bags handy. As far as knowing ahead of time maybe maybe not, but paying attention, having a network and goo situational awareness can do wonders. There is also often a small window of time after the SHTF in which those who soonest come to grips with what has happen have a opportunity and where those that don’t become statistics.

10 cords of wood ? Oh the thought of it just gave ME wood.

In my town my neighbors have upwards of an acre on each property of seasoned wood. I’m so jealous. It’ll take me years to get to their level.

But you betcha - when Sandy hit ? We all had a better week than the week before. We still manage snow and debris together a year later.

To: Kartographer; All
You never know when an emergency will start - it started for me this past week on Wednesday and I'm not leaving my house until H1N1 swine flu finishes killing people as I can't take the flu shot. One strain in the vaccine this year is H1N1.

The hospital had eight very sick people and four died - the other four are still very sick in the hospital. Two died of H1N1 and their kidneys stopped functioning which appears to happen if you have H1N1. Since Wednesday, a man in Tarrant County (Fort Worth is in Tarrant County), has died of H1N1 and his kidneys stopped functioning.

Today I made 16 bean soup Cajun style, and baked a blackberry cobbler. I don't know when it will be safe for me to venture outside to the grocery store but it doesn't matter - I can stay in this house many months if I have to and still have food.

H1N1 is going to be over Texas and it only takes one sick person going to another state to move it there. If you can take the flu shot, you should do it.

He likes apples too so I think I'm good.

Apple pie, apple crisp, apples and onions, apple jack, apple sauce, apple vinegar, apple and sauerkraut, apple cider, dried apples, apple chips, baked apples....

Before you make 16 Bean Soup again, take out a few of each of the beans, identify them, and put them with your garden seeds. That’s what I do whenever I see a new dried bean variety on the grocery store shelf. A bag of beans costs the same as a seed package and you get a few meals as a bonus.

On a related note with the jerky the other day, dehydrate a few of your fresh garden green beans. Wander down the gourmet aisle of the grocery store and check out the different dehydrated snacking vegetables they have. Read over the ingredient label to get ideas on the seasonings you could add to yours at home. Yes, you guessed it, those packages are nearly as expensive as your store bought jerky.

For preppers there isn’t 12 days of anything, is there? That’s why they’re preppers, because it could happen tomorrow, that Wal-Marts are all closed and there is nothing on TV.
