To “match” the one on Right shoulder, the theory there is while moving forward in battle it looks like the Flag is flying in the wind.

It’s a patch. He put the wrong one on. As a Captain, I’m sure he received a load of flak when the image was originally published.

i was complaining about the quality control/inspection at the factory, so it didn't come that way from the factory and everything is put on by the wearer with velcro now?

when wearing the Flag as a patch, the Blue Field is the leading edge, as in leading the way, pointing to the right side of your body, [the right side is the side of strength (sword arm)].
