Just got around to opening mail, United Healthcare has signed me over to a new doctor.
The battle begins tomorrow!

No, Swamp, if you like your doctor you can keep him.
This is terrible for you. One route to take is to get in touch with your doctor and see if he can ask to get on that plan. No one knows the answers to questions because this is all new territory. Maybe he can get on it but you won’t know until you ask to find out what is happening on the doctor’s side. Your best outcome is to get the doctor on there.
Don’t blow up at the insurance company until you find your doctor can’t get on that plan. If he can’t, then blow up at the insurance company. If you blow up at them first, they will likely get ticked off and then wouldn’t put the doctor on there just for spite.

Not only can you not keep your doctor but at my office, effective Jan 1, if you don’t have proof of insurance you pay $70 cash up front or you don’t see anyone. Then you pay cash for whatever additional tests, etc.. before you leave..or you don’t come back.

This is how it was meant to be, the battle is between you and an insurance company, not between you and the government.

Everyone in my somewhat multicultural extended family has been assigned a primary provider of roughly the same skin color as the patient — just like Sebelius promised. To be sure, I am just a touch darker than my Latina PA, but others are nearly spot-on, especially for the Asian relatives. Really amazing.
