Via Climatologist Dr. Roy Spencer: This Sunday’s NFL Game in Green Bay: Coldest Ever? http://www.drroyspencer.com/2014/01/this-sundays-nfl-game-in-green-bay-coldest-ever/ The latest GFSx MOS temperature forecast is now -8 deg. F for game time in Green Bay on Sunday evening for the playoff game between the Packers and the 49ers. This is getting awfully close to the record coldest NFL game temperature of -13 deg. F, set Dec. 31, 1967 at Lambeau Field during “The Ice Bowl”, the NFL Championship game between the Packers and Dallas Cowboys. The 2nd coldest game was Jan. 10, 1982 at Riverfront Stadium during the AFC Championship game between Cincinnati Bengals and San Diego Chargers, at -9 deg. F, so Sundays game might take the #2 spot. The top 10 coldest NFL games are listed here. Makes my hands hurt just thinking about it. Could you tow us out of the ice (that proves that it's very hot)? Perhaps “millions of degrees” as Algore, the vicar of Tommy Flannagan on this Earth, declares.

It's nuts that an 8-7-1 team gets a home playoff game against a 12-4 team.

Then the 12-4 team should have won its division. And I'll be pulling hard for the Niners.

Agreed - we once sat through a high school football game in low 20’s temps - it went to SEVEN overtimes! We had thought ahead to bring a blanket to sit on (metal bleachers) and to cover up with but still that wasn’t enough - I was silently begging EITHER team to quit! lol

Makes no difference if they are playing at home, no one is giving the Packers a chance. You know sorta like no one giving Central Florida a chance when they played Baylor and Oklahoma a chance yesterday when they played Alabama. Both underdogs won the game. Packers in a close one.

Any game at Lambeau means the visitors must also defeat the officials. I can see the Packers winning too.

I remember that; it was Super Bowl IX; Steelers 16, Vikings 6. They played in old Tulane Stadium because the Super Dome was supposed to be completed in time, but it was not.

It is widely regarded as the worst Super Bowl played. And will be until we have a blizzard wipe out the Super Bowl this year.

Popularized in Minnesota as “One For The Thumb”, a 5th second-place ring.

Francis Tarkenton is still one of the greatest “scrambling” QBs in NFL history. He just could not win the big-show.
