yeah, but who was watching? Every body is watching and making plans and advertisers want it on Sunday to have their crappy ads carried over to Monday water cooler chats. What do the libs say? It’s too big to fail.

The issue was more about traffic than about weather per se.

Just watched "A football life" episode about Vince Lombardi.

Regarding the ice bowl - According to Bart Starr, Vince's reply to Starr's suggestion that he was already far enough forward on the ice to get into the end zone was "OK then, just do it so we can get the hell out out of here."

That was the peter-puffer’s excuse! He’s a sissy who should be commish of some knob-gnashing soccer league if he’s afraid of the cold.

Starr was what I think they call a “Class Act”. I haven’t really kept up with the NFL for years. It seemed it all began to go down hill with Joe Namath.

Not that he wasn’t a great QB.

The games with the cold are striking but what I love is the games in the driving snow storms, those are a real test of skill combinations! Watching frozen hands and rock hard ground underneath slippery snow with obscured line markings makes for a very interesting game. Hello Superbowl, Are You READY? NFL wimps go home!

What was he thinking?

He was thinking that Don Cockroft, one of the most consistent kickers in football, might miss! He had missed a couple earlier in the game, probably due to the incredibly cold, hard ball.

And Sipe - Newsome was one of the best QB/TE combinations in football in that time period. Unfortunately, it didn't work that day.

Me, I'd have gone with the FG attempt.

All I remember is that the stadium got so quiet that you could almost hear a pin drop on the opposite side. Incredible experience.

I truly envy you for being present at one of the NFL’s great moments. I’m a Skins man (born in DC), but I LOVE Cleveland, Green Bay, Chicago... anybody who plays outdoors on grass in the North.

48 degrees below zero had to be brutal. Look at all the people there though!
