"Flash freeze" so that is what Al Gore calls global warming these days?

Yeah - that was in the movie “The day after tomorrow” or maybe it was “The day before yesterday”... I forget.

I spent a couple of hours this morning scraping about 12 inches of Gore’s global warming off the driveway, at -1F, and a windchill around -15F.
Looking forward to this weekend storm. Got plenty of firewood, plenty of beer, a new 5# bag of salted peanuts, plenty of feed for the critters, and four football games.
Bring it.

Or was it “I haven’t fought a windmill in a fortnight”?

Well, it is becoming quite obvious the United States has reduced it CO2 emissions to much. This is causing the country to cool off more than normal. I suggest we fire up all the coal plants and get your SUVs out on the road. We have to raise our CO2 levels.

With the windchill added in, we’ll get close to -60F....

It’s been worse...

My winter survival kit consists of a bottle of good wine, a collection of classical music, and a good book.

Same thing here in Toronto. It's already -9C (up from -22 at mid-morning), warming up overnight, then snow on Sunday night. We usually get your weather about 12 hours later, and it's usually a couple of degrees warmer because of the lake.

Oh, and for the first time in at least ten years our harbour froze.

We had that yesterday. What’s really bizarre it that we still had some hard-core homeless sleeping outside and nobody froze to death.

I've been to Toronto twice. Great city and I'm going there again this summer.

Mississauga, it's suburb, is bigger than most U.S. cities.

Based upon solar output and relational solar cycles there are predictions that we are entering a Dalton Minimum type of cold period. This should last about 30 years. If we have a Maunder Minimum type of event it will last 200 to 300 years, and is far colder than a Dalton Minimum. The Dalton Minimum type of mini ice age will render farming implausible if not impossible in Canada for a significant period of time. There will be starvation in the world like we have never seen. Best get ready.
