yes, i was wary of the pills being effective enough, especially since she had to have them crushed. knocking her completely out will be better.
xshub and i were in NYC this weekend, he had to give a speech and asked me to come, so we went to a show etc. It was plenty cold, but i was dressed like the Michelin man in layers and it wasn’t terribly bad. Would not want to be there tomorrow. The bigger hassle was the snow on the streets and having to slop and slide around in that.

LOL, listening to Rush during lunchtime here, some of the faithful actually may believe that Global Warming (concentrated in the U.S. of course) is “attracting” the so-called polar vortex down to us. I’d say unbelievable, but not really given the source…

Believer her. My dentist tried to do a filling, and could do nothing, to keep me from feeling it. It happens.

It was 21 this morning, and is only 33 now-but that is balmy compared to where you are. It was cold like this in the early 80’s, and snowed over a foot twice in January, but the global warming/climate change loons don’t understand that such things follow a cycle dictated by solar distance, our orbit-which is not perfectly circular, etc-we’ve seen this before and will again...

The aureole of vapor rising
From every pond and river
Shows that the air is frigid
And makes us want to shiver

To the idiots stuck in the ice
Who found the cold so alarming-
Hey, it is winter, you lunatics,
This is not from global warming...

It seems that every few decades
We are reminded of the reason
Why June is not like January,
And there isn’t just one season...

My sympathies to your baby-I went through the wisdom teeth drill-pun intended-with the cub, as well as doing it myself. That was when it was discovered that just a bit of ordinary drugs could put my lights out forever, so I’ve been totally drug free since.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t this polar vortex thing what we used to call the Siberian Express a few years ago?

Then they obviously have way too much time on their hands-and I like Siberian Express-it is much more colorful, and better describes what is going on...

i wanted to tell you about the easy dish i made last night that got rave reviews from xsboy and xsfiance both.i am all about the slowcooker these days so i found this online. Buffalo Chicken sandwiches. I think the packet of hidden valley ranch dip mix makes the diff. Xsteen had made some buffalo chicken recipe for xsfiance that didn't have it, and i think this is much better, and the addition of the butter helps too. The guys put ranch/blue cheese dressing on their sandwiches, and i made cole slaw as a side dish.

today i am making Coq au vin. Haven't made this since my law school bachlorette days. The recipe i used then must have been in the crock pot recipe book bc being from Pittsburgh i assure you i had never heard of any coq au vin! i remember liking it, so i hope it will be good.

I’m bundling up in enough layers for Alaska-topped off with my ancient and trusty down-filled hunting parka-whenever I take Husky girl out-she stubbornly insists on chasing birds and squirrels away from the feeders and into the trees, then jumping around daring them to come down. The old snow dog loves this weather and can’t understand why I insist on us going back inside before she is bored.

The cats watched the blue jays fighting over the feeder for a long time, but now only Yeti Boy is sitting at the window. Titus and Midget girl chased each other around for awhile, but now he is holding her down on the floor, licking her face while she howls in protest. At least someone here is enjoying the frigid weather...

Yum, yummy-I haven’t fixed that in years either-I’ve got chili on the stove and 2 baguettes of french bread rising, but I’m writing down the recipe and ingredients for that right now...

that’s cold weather comfort food too. xsteen took the last of the buffalo chicken for her lunch today, so i promised xsboy that i would make another batch for him to take back to school with him when he leaves on Friday.
