You’re an admitted Statist, shouldn’t you be thrilled?

At least he didn’t close the dang Skoolz!

Dripping faucets inside and outside-in freezing weather is second nature to everyone I know, but I’ve heard that is not the case everywhere.

75 is too warm for me-65-68 is perfect.

You’re spoiled. ;-)

Remember hearing about Obama and the 80 degree White House?

My thermostat was at 68 last night but it was still about 62 near the outside walls. I’ll push it back to 65-66 when we sleep, but not last night.

I’ll do 70 or 72 if I’m in a hotel room somewhere. In the winter. 68 or 66 in the summer.

I figure that by now, as sparsely populated as this area is, word will have gotten out that the resident lunatic and provider of illicit stuff is out-of-state for an extended period of time. And I’m sure someone has said there is someone there who a total stranger, armed, and not intimidated by his weird acquaintances...

I’m still very cautious, though at all times-it is getting tiresome, too...

People looking for a former tenant?

Have you considered a “he don’t live here no more” sign?

Well, if it is on a corporate dime, I’ll do that, too and not feel bad at all-I’m overpaying for something else anyway, so it comes out even.

It was below 60 in here this morning-the heat pump is a very old one-not effective when the ambient air temp is below 40-45, so it is turned off so as not to waste money, and space radiators/heaters are in use, but it is just so damn cold out-all but the newest places around here weren’t built for serious winter cold-they were originally summer river cabins...

Our house is 4600 square feet not counting the finished basement. We have a two tiered heating system. Our bedroom and xs teens bedroom are on opposite ends of the house. With the upstairs thermostat set at 75 and our bedroom door closed to sleep its a full 10 deg colder in those bedrooms. Xsboy’s and xsbabys rooms in the center of the house are toasty. It would be unbearably cold set any lower.

He is the owner, actually, and I’ve taken his name off the gate and mailbox-and from what I hear and see, he is a complete lunatic and hedonist, not adverse to anything that brought in money-he ran his business out of a shack by the gate that is locked-and that I won’t even go within 10 feet of, because it makes my skin crawl-and I’m not even afraid of ghosts-I think it was a head shop for bikers and goths among other less legit things-the whole place is right out of the darkest edge of psychedelic era, no lie...

This place will simply have to do though, until all is settled-and that takes a bit of time. Anyway it is going to provide a great few chapters for my book-”In a gaddadavida, you know that I love you, baby”...

I’ve always had the master suite at one end of the house or the other-and it was always colder in winter, hotter in summer no matter how the A/C and heat was zoned. I swear I’m going to have the sense to put that master suite in the middle in my next house, so I can be toasty for a change...

Yup, 67, with a runup to 71 twice a day when people are in the kitchen...the dark tile absorbs the sun nicely, even when it’s cold.

We’re almost the same size, but they should really put in 4 thermostats, switchable by season.

The second tier thermo on the 4th floor, so the heat shuts off early and the AC stays on.

Downstairs, the thermo is in the playroom, so the opposite happens,

If they put in two extra thermostats, with a switch...it would be more efficient

There’s always a space heater, I keep one in the Princess’ room, because she’s over the garage.

The basement is warm in winter cool in summer so our system is entirely efficient. The only cold spots are the end bedrooms and if the doors are left open they’re perfectly fine too.

You need some of those motorized duct deflectors to force more warm air to the colder rooms.

Or space heaters for the cold areas.

Do you actually use the basement much? Basement family rooms are just made for cheesy faux fireplace space heaters.
