Photos like this - equipment, troops, etc. - are what led me to enlist back in 1984.
USS Carter Hall (LSD 50), my last ship. We didn’t do AAVs too much, just enough to keep up quals—the LSDs are LCAC platforms. I certainly did my share of AAV launches from the LSTs and LPDs I was on though.
