A Santa Clara University student is recovering at an Oregon hospital after officials say someone ran him over on purpose.
Conor McMahon, 20, was visiting his family in Portland for the holidays.
After a New Year's Eve party, McMahon and a few friends were walking down a street in North Portland when a man in a mini-van or small SUV pulled up and offered them a ride.
McMahons parents say their son and his friends declined and the man drove away. But he made a U-turn, sped into the wrong lane, and hit McMahon from behind.
McMahon suffered a broken pelvis and internal injuries, but doctors expect him to survive.
His rehab is gonna be six months to a year, and he may still have to face a new normal, said Pat McMahon, Conors father.
Police are still searching for the driver.
just stunned . something about hand basket and hot destinations this country has lost its moral compass
THIS is why we need mental health screening for drivers licenses.
Could have been a spin-off on the KnockOut Game.
With the media’s suspicious lack of a description of the driver, which Conor and his friends saw, are we looking at a vehicular knockout game now?!?
It being “north Portland” your speculation is likely true
Being in No. Po. late at night is a bad idea. Period.
They call it No. po. meaning no police. And not in a good way.
Wow, I have a relative with that same exact name. I hope this guy gets well soon!
Was it a pervert trying to pick them up, and they insulted him with some politically incorrect language that they don’t want to admit to because their lives would be ruined?
I could be. It is getting so bad in the US that soon you will go to jail for not accepting the advances of homosexuals.
“A source told KATU News police have a major interview in this case planned for Thursday, but so far investigators aren’t sharing any information about a suspect vehicle or a suspect description. They’re also not saying whether the Taco Bell got this whole thing on surveillance video, and they’re withholding the recordings of 9-1-1 calls from the incident”
Notice there’s no description of the driver?
Lesson learned to stop walking in the street.
