Vietnam agriculture minister Cao Duc Phat told a government meeting that tiet canh is often eaten after some Lunar New Year rituals in which the animals are slaughtered for worship, according to the country’s Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper. + H5N1 has been detected in more than half of Vietnam’s poultry markets, and an outbreak of the virus has also been reported in poultry in China’s Guizhou province. The even more deadly H7N9 virus, which has killed about a third of the 150 people it has infected since the strain emerged last year, has been detected in four Chinese patients in recent weeks, and H7N9 has been found in poultry and water samples in a suburb of the Chinese city of Guangzhou.

Not meaning to give my opinion if it is not wanted, but here are the relevant passages if the topic interests you:
Before Noah’s flood apparently people had never been authorized by God to eat meat, just grain, fruits, vegetables, nuts, etc. So this is the first time we see animals being used for food with the one caveat that the blood is not supposed to be consumed.
The law of Moses had further dietary restrictions for Jews but was never specifically directed toward Gentiles. In the New Testament, the early Christian church began as a Jewish sect which later spread to the Gentiles. As a result, there was a debate as to whether Gentiles needed to convert to Judaism in order to become Christian. Churches outside of Jerusalem sent a request to the apostles in Jerusalem to settle this dispute which is recorded in detail in Acts 15. The dispute was settled, and a letter was written from the apostles to the Christians saying that Gentiles did not need to convert to Judaism but should observe a few specific ordinances which were in the Law but applied to Gentiles as well as Jews:
It is not that there are no other standards of conduct for Christians but that these 3 or 4 things were expected of Christians immediately upon conversion: no more sex outside of marriage, no more idol worship (including eating idol sacrifices), no more consuming blood (including eating meat of strangled animals).
The people described in this article practice all of these forbidden things. This is understandable since they are non-Christians, but Christians are supposed to know better.
