A New Kind of Racism?
The New York Times ^ | JAN. 9, 2014 | MASHA GESSEN

"The day after that conversation, my 12-year-old daughter took her toddler brother to a playground, only to return very soon and very shaken. This park is Harlem in miniature. There are two playgrounds, less than 300 yards apart, an old basic one and a new shiny one. In the new playground, well-dressed toddlers of different races, most of them minded by dark-skinned nannies, played together. At the old one, a few black kids played while their older siblings kept reluctant watch. A couple of drunken men loitered nearby. Apparently, one of them had lashed out at my daughter, calling her a “white bitch.” He then collected his kids from the playground, making it clear this was done on her account. “Isn’t this racism?” she asked me, shocked. Somehow, my model, which denied the possibility of racism directed against the majority, could not account for the power dynamics involved in being a child being berated by an adult."

My wife taught at a community college for about 12 years. Most all the racial tension and attitude came from black women. Some regarded any attempt to correct their class performance as racism, often throwing a tantrum.

One woman, causing a loud ruckus in the halls was approached and told to quiet down or she would be expelled. She replied, “Who are you to talk to me that way, Bitch! —”I’m the Dean of Education here” was the reply and the woman was expelled from college.

If you’re white, you’re going to be abused by it,
and the authorities/government not only won’t do anything about it,

they’ll protect the abusers from you defending yourself.

That’s what we have coming.

I don’t doubt you. There was quite a bit of that hair-trigger behavior among many black girls at my high school.

Maybe. Could be the old playground was closest. No way a 12-year-old is going to drag a toddler an additional 300 yards (per the article) just so he’s got decent equipment to play on. That would defeat the purpose of getting him to want to return home as quickly as possible.

Racism is racism. There is no “new kind” of racism. Racism is the belief that status is determined by one’s race, nothing more, nothing less. The ramifications may be benign or they can be malign but they stem from that one simple attitude.

That post brings back memories, of a sort. In my high school, in the 70’s, the black girls had a different kind of hair trigger. They’d nest razor blades in their afros, then they’d slap an unprepared white girl, and when she retaliated by grabbing the assailant’s hair, well, you can guess the result.

To tell the truth, I really don’t believe anything in this article.

Oh come on now, it's written by a leftist lesbian. They never lie.

The irony, which ought to get pointed out more often, is that it is RACIST to claim that minorities are INCAPABLE of RACISM. Simply emphasize the word "INCAPABLE" to make the point.

The idea that only the majority are ABLE to commit acts of racism, is a way of holding that group out as being superior, and therefore more accountABLE for their actions. It is a way of saying that this other group, these minorities are NOT ABLE to be held up to the same standards of behavior. It is in this way that a smug, racists, liberal majority sends out their message that they consider minorities to be inferior, and therefore LESS ABLE to act upon the same moral standards as the rest of us.
