Alabama hired former Southern California coach Lane Kiffin on Friday as its offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Kiffin returns to the Southeastern Conference after head coaching stints with the NFL's Oakland Raiders, Alabama rival Tennessee and the Trojans. He replaces Doug Nussmeier, who left Alabama for Michigan. "He is an outstanding and creative offensive coach who has great experience both at the college and NFL level," coach Nick Saban said in a statement. "He has a very good understanding of the game and I have always been impressed with what I saw in the games he called. He coaches with a great deal of passion and enthusiasm, and also does an excellent job as a teacher." Kiffin spent a week in Tuscaloosa, Ala., last month exchanging ideas with Saban and his staff and observing Alabama's offense. Now, he's the splashiest hire of Saban's tenure at Alabama, which has won three national titles in the past five seasons. The 38-year-old Kiffin was 28-15 in three-plus seasons with USC. He was fired five games into last season from one of college football's marquee jobs.

Kiffin leaves a trail of destruction in his wake. That should be a huge red flag. My assumption is that he has strong psychopathic traits.
I just don’t get this one. Just have to trust Saban, I guess....Really. Anybody but Kiffin? I don’t see him and Saban getting along. At all. I sure hope it works out(sigh). I just don’t know what in the hell Saban is thinking. He was(Kiffin) a supposed great recruiter. But now he’s damaged goods in my book. WTF?
Oh. Roll Tide
I’m surprised he wasn’t tarred and feathered in Knoxville after trying to take recruits with him when he left.
I don’t understand Saban’s move here.
So Alabama will be known as Bubble Screen U. Crimson Tide fans should also expect to see a lot of running plays up the middle on third-and-eight.
Exactly! Also, there is just something shady going on with the Vol’s men’s coaches.

Saban has likely been hoodwinked by a psychopath. This may be the beginning of the end of Saban at Alabama.
As I recall, Kiffin was fired by Pat Haden immediately after the Arizona State game, and wasn’t even allowed to ride on the bus with the team. That’s very unusual, and indicates to me that there were unspoken reasons, and some urgency, behind the firing. I have no idea what Kiffin might have done, but it must have been bad. I doubt that it was just poor performance on the field that precipitated that mode of dismissal.
Relax. Bama just needed a “Coach in Waiting” for when Saban leaves.
Of you think the Alum at Bama would hire Kiffin to run that program you been misinformed.
lol, it is a joke. Well, I guess it is. Who would have thought Bama would hire Kitten? That seems like a joke too.
Maybe Saban is now trying to tick off Bama to get a buy out. :-)
Tennessee had the #1 recruiting class going into the summer and Kiffin and Ogeron took four of the five 5 Star recruits with them when they left Tennessee. The two of them emasculated the recruiting class that year and left Dooley an empty hand.
Kiffin was also involved with the recruiting scandal at USC that put them on probation. Kiffin is bad news and Alabama alumni better do some quick talking to Sabin before its too late.
I don’t know much about this guy, but if at 38 he is has gone from being an NFL head coach, to a college head coach, to a college offensive coordinator, he’ll be the coordinator for a local Pop Warner team before retirement.
The article is wrong.
St Nick is actually hiring Kiffin’s WIFE.
If youve ever seen her, you realize she can score at will......
I assume she may introduce the Spread, as well.....

Why does this clown get hired by anyone? He is a program destroyer. Saban better put Kevlar suit on Kiffin when they roll into Knoxville.
Not knowing who Kiffin is makes that headline crazy.
Please please please tell me this is satire.
I know a bunch of USC alums who are laughing their butts off at this hire. Does Saban have any idea just how much better the USC offense was AFTER he was fired?
