Study finds long-lasting results from brain exercises

A first-of-its kind study set to be released Monday finds that older adults who engaged in brain training drills retained measurable benefits up to 10 years later, suggesting that such interventions may help stave off impairments of aging that rob seniors of their independence.

The latest trial found that nearly three-quarters of those who participated in reasoning exercises and information-processing drills still displayed those abilities a decade later.

The more you use the brain, the better, just like any muscle in the body. The brain continues to specialize, build new connections, becoming more efficient, no matter how old you get. But, if you don’t use it, you lose it.

Physical exercise is essential for good brain health. As muscles weaken and atrophy, our ability to interact with the physical world diminishes.

A healthy mind is dependent on a strong healthy mobile body.

i do sudoku, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, card games, computer stratagy games, build models, and exercise. and i will do long division just to stay in practice. next stop. older plane geometry and trig proofs. QED
