The heartbroken parents of a 12 year-old-girl who died of pneumonia have discovered a letter she wrote to herself, to be opened ten years later.

Tennessee schoolgirl Taylor Scout Smith died suddenly of complications related to the illness on Sunday. Her parents found the sealed envelope containing a letter Taylor had written to her future self while cleaning her room.
The two-page note, which Taylor wrote last year, begins with: Dear Taylor, How's life? Life is pretty simple 10 years in your past. Congratulations on graduating high school, if you didn't, go back and keep trying. Do you have your own place yet? If we're in college what are we majoring in? Right now I want to be a lawyer.
In the letter, Taylor touches upon the everyday concerns of 12 year-olds such as iPads and Doctor Who, to the more profound issues of her future happiness. "How's your relationship with God?," Taylor asks her future self. "Have you prayed, worshiped, read the Bible or gone to serve the Lord recently? If not, get up and do so now!"
Well good thing that one died, eh?
Same here...I’m teared up just from the excerpt. She sounds like a beautiful child...prayers for her parents in their profound grief.
I wish shed have had higher aspirations than becoming an attorney.
You can just explain all of her problems when you meet her and see if God agrees and is disappointed in her. There is a lot she said that many people far older than she was do not have the wisdom to aspire to. People that are more interested in pleasing God than men usually get things figured out given the time.

Where did she rule out becoming a mother or wife or say she wanted to destroy people legally?
You don’t get it so I won’t even bother to explain.
When you look at the great men that have done something positive enough and to warrant having their names be put into the American history books because they changed the course of it you’ll find that most of the time they had great mothers and great wives.
Women started abandoning the home int the ‘60s and ‘70s and thus America has been falling socially, economically and every other way.
Women are much more powerful being women than trying to be men. Until women realize this they’ll continue to lower themselves and thus lower America in the process.

She's not “women”; she is a 10 year old girl who actually cared about where she was headed in life. Given that; her thoughts are very mature.
I hope I get a chance to ask her one day about her thoughts about lawyers. To a 10 or 11 year old girl, lawyers would look like the ultimate servants. She would not yet see the dark side of the profession. She also might have been looking up to one of the good ones (Yes, there are good lawyers out there). Or, perhaps, she felt a call to blaze a trail as a good one. There is no way to ask her now.
I pray for peace for the family who will miss her dearly.
Mature? Yes! Caring? Yes! Beautiful? Yes! A girl? Yes! Who would have become a woman if she hadn’t passed away? Yes!
Her goal? A little mis-guided.
She would have possibly taken the path that so many other women have been indoctrinated into following that they’ve got to be the man otherwise they won’t feel as equal as a man or feel left out.
They pursue a career thinking it’ll fulfill them and then by the time they get to age 40+ they realize they’ve been missing something in their lives. They try to have children but no man wants to be around them because they are too mean and cranky so they resort to using the turkey baster method.
We have done a great dis-service to our daughters and our country by doing this for the past 50 years.
America’s fertility rate is now below the replacement level of 2.1. Even the first generation immigrants to our shores can’t keep up with their larger families.
Look at other western countries and their shrinking populations and ask yourself if this is a good thing. Is it?

Attorneys are by definition are designed to fight and destroy their opponent. We have way too many people with law grad degrees who become attorneys after passing the bar exam and not enough graduating as engineers and others who want to build.
Why do you think attorneys have the rep they have?
I believe you’re over-thinking this. An attorney, to an eleven year old, is someone who helps others solve problems. Eleven year olds typically do not have the life experience to see otherwise.
Well Jack, that’s one less to have to worry about not living up to your standards. The words of Charles Dickens come to mind:
“Will you decide what men shall live, what men shall die? It may be, that in the sight of Heaven, you are more worthless and less fit to live than millions like this poor man’s child.”
Proverbs warns that foolishness is bound in the heart of a child. What is to be gained for judging a dead child to be childish?
What happens when no children are born because women are too busy being the man?
How foolish is that?
