Perhaps no bigger snub was Oprah Winfrey failing to earn a nom for her supporting role in The Butler. After being snubbed by the Golden Globes, Winfrey seemed destined for a nomination, especially after having received a Screen Actors Guild nod. Instead, she and The Butler were shut out entirely from the 86th Academy Awards.

Maybe they heard how untrue the Butler was?
Who or what is Oscar? Those stupid silly gold King Nebuchadnezzar statues?
Blame Danny Strong. Famous for writing other garbage.
“Daniel W. “Danny” Strong is best known for his role as Jonathan Levinson in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He also wrote the screenplays for Recount, the HBO adaptation Game Change, and Lee Daniels’ The Butler.”
So sad for Oprah —
Pass me another beer.
there’s no oscar category for “best piece of racist fiction”?
hehehehe
Maybe if she hadn’t been going around acting like a beyotch she might have gotten the nom. Perhaps even the rich liberals of hollywood feared hearing Oprah give a speech about her life of struggle and suffering in racist American and the world.

I predict every single statue goes to the slave movie.
Sad for Oprah’s massive ego. Bet she’ll be extra snippy with her servants for the next few days.
It just might drive her to a shopping spree in Switzerland —
Doesn't stop them from giving "Best Documentary" to non-factual propaganda.
I haven't been to a movie theater this Millennium, but reading the comments on Drudge links, Harpo isn't a "real" actress, but only a part-timer sucking up a rare female black role, "Twelve Years..." is a "real" movie, and crowded out "Butler", etc.
This whole idea of "snub" - are these people (Redford, Hanks, etc.) entitled to a nomination just for showing up?
Heh....!
How long before Opduh pulls out the race card?
‘Semper Fi’
I have a friend who has a copy of the first film McConaughey ever made (DAZED AND CONFUSED). He and Ben Affleck signed it. Its more than likely McConaugheys first autograph since he signed it in 1992 way before he got anywhere near fame. Affleck had done a few things before but this is basically his first movie, too.
So, if McConaughey wins the Oscar, the script will have the autographs of two Oscar winners, both signed when they were just getting started.
My friend is thinking about putting it on ebay. First of all, should he wait until the Oscars to see if McConaughey wins? And, how much do you guys think he can get for it. A dealer offered him $1,100 a few years back.
He also has the sun glasses the coach wore in the film that he would include in the deal.
Most overrated movie of the year was Blue Jasmine, IMO.
Aw, that’s a shame.
Has Oprah started screaming “Racism” yet?
