A sophomore wrestler from Albert Lea intentionally lost his match in order to make his opponent's day.
"I found out he had down syndrome, and then once I was told that, I knew that I was going to give him the match because I was told he hasn't won a match or anything yet," Ryleigh Bure said.
He had his mother Danielle Bure film the match against Kyle, who was down syndrome.
Ryleigh said he didn't tell anyone his plan.
"Everyone deserves to win. I know what it feels like and he hasn't had a win yet, so I thought he deserved to feel what it felt like to win."
Though he didn't win the match, Ryleigh said he felt like a winner as he walked off the mat.

What if what the Down’s kid wants isn’t victory per se, but a chance to compete right alongside everyone else on equal terms?

If I were handicapped, I would not want to “win” this way.

So instead of showing the kid with downs some respect for his ability and effort, this punk showed disrepect and pity. Then he strutted about saying ‘look at me’.
Didn’t you get the memo, PJ? We’re all equal. But some of us are more equal than others. :)
Exhibition match. Doesn’t count in the individual or team standings. I’ve no problem with letting the other kid win an exhibition match.
Because in this liberal world no one deserves to lose. We are all equal and we are all winners, aren’t we?
At one time, college graduates could be identified by their tassel what their curriculum was. Science and engineering students usually wore gold tassels and the rest of the graduates had tassels of a different color.
Now, at one particular school that I do not want to mention, every graduate wears a gold tassel to the great chagrin of my engineer son.
I agree. There’s no reason for the left hand to ever know what the right has given to charity.
Good story and post. There are some lazy, turds in the fishbowl here that would rather mock than spend a minute watching a video and getting a complete perspective.
Not so sure why so many here have a problem with what he did. He made the other boy work for his win. Good kid.
The coach should remove that wrestler from the team and take away his letter. No excuse for throwing a match, ever, for any “reason”.
