Is a mini ice age on the way? Scientists warn the Sun has 'gone to sleep' and say it could cause tem

Mike Lockwood University of Reading says that the lower temperatures could affect the global jetstream, causing weather systems to collapse.

'We estimate within 40 years there a 10-20% probability we will be back in Maunder Minimum territory,' he said.

Last year Nasa warned 'something unexpected' is happening on the Sun'

This year was supposed to be the year of 'solar maximum,' the peak of the 11-year sunspot cycle.

Once again, Al Gore shows how ahead-of-the-curve he is. He has been driving fleets of SUVs, running the the heat and air conditioning at full blast at all his mansions, leaving a carbon footprint the size of King Kong's butt to personally fight the global cooling that is coming....The People's Hero!!

...do you remember this about forty some years ago? There was going to be another ice age and we were all going to die.

And the same ol' scam as AGW, give us grants to "study" the "problem".

Something odd was happening to the trees this last year. Certain trees were putting out massive fruit and seeds. Like they knew it was time for survival. I don’t think smog will trigger that response from trees. I think they are picking up on magnetic vibrations due possibly from the sun and our magnetic fields.

Don’t know, but the only way to stop it is to elect more democrats, transfer all wealth to the UN, drive stupid looking little go carts, and make sure the Tea Party cannot party!

Central_va, with all respect to you, the acronym in that pic makes me shudder. Think about what it stands for...it’s awful.

I think it’s hilarious. Bit by all means complain to the moderator and take it down, I could care less.

I’m screwed. I stopped buying the paper a decade ago when I realized it was less about the news and more about propaganda.

Now only if NY had a large supply of natural gas somewhere I could live in warmth. /sarc

*Couldn't* care less.

I'm not going to try to have it taken down. If you think that particular acronym is funny, well.....nothing else to say, I guess.

Have a nice Saturday.

Mankind has been keeping weather records for at most a thousand years and only reasonably complete observation for maybe 600 or so years.
That is just a blink of the eye in terms of the suns lifespan. There are MANY phases and cycles the sun couldngo through that we have NO IDEA about.

Even a record of 10 millenia would have gaps and missing data on how the sun can change. It is sheer folly, hubris on a cosmic scale for AGW fanatics to think puny mankind has a massive impact on the planets weather but the sun does not when it is quite clearly the opposite. The sun puts more energy into the planet in one day than all of mankind does over the course of a decade.

Not to worry....Obama will issue another EO....

"This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow, and our planet began to heal.

Welcome King Barack "Canute" Obama the Great.....

...Obama issues an Executive Order to the Sun...

....to increase it's magnetic field....

and make a good crop of sunspots before elections in 2016....

(PhysOrg.com) -- Sunspot formation is triggered by a magnetic field, which scientists say is steadily declining. They predict that by 2016 there may be no remaining sunspots, and the sun may stay spotless for several decades.

The last time the sunspots disappeared altogether was in the 17th and 18th century, and coincided with a lengthy cool period on the planet known as the Little Ice Age....and lasted 400 years.

Good luck surviving with no electricity and GE modified seeds.

"do you remember this about forty some years ago? There was going to be another ice age and we were all going to die."

Don't forget the "population explosion", the "lack of food fallacy", the "DDT scare", the "Alar apple scare", that "boys and girls are the same - nature versus nurture", that every parent new otherwise, "mass quantities of Vitamin C would prevent colds".

Now they say that fish oil isn't healthy as they presumed and that Vitamin D is the cure all for low sunlight exposure. Also, alcohol kills brain cells, which they now refute. I've seen conflicting reports on how much alcohol is required to decrease heart attacks/strokes and how much cause such. Red meat is bad; veggies are the cure all, except for those who don't get enough protein, etc.

It goes on and on by our brilliant all-knowing scientists, until they change their minds. Some times I think science is an in-exact science. Especially love astro-physicists who say the universe will eventually collapse on itself and now some say it will always be ever expanding.

These same guys claim there are an infinite amount of universes. The same guys claim that the universe popped into existence through the "singularity theory" and THEN explodes into the Big Bang. How could they possibly know other than their equations on a chalk board? Hell, they still can't explain what gravity is.
