Target shoppers can now sign up for free credit monitoring and identity theft assistance, which the discount chain is offering to all customers affected by its security breach.
Target will pay for the services for 12 months, provided by Experian through its ProtectMyID alert system. After a year, consumers must pay for the service themselves if they choose to continue.
To enroll, first visit CreditMonitoring.Target.com to request an activation code. You'll need to provide your name and email address.
The activation code will be sent by email, arriving in one to five days, Target said.
Once you have your unique code, use it to register at protectmyid.com/target. To enroll in the free service, you'll then have to provide your name, address, Social Security number and date of birth.

I know that Experian will continue to charge you even when you cancel. It happen to me. I had to write them as they have no way of stopping the payments from online.
Yep, right after they tell you not to provide your social security number to anyone over the internet. How do we know if this is a phishing scam?

GIving Experion your id info is no big deal because they have all of it, and MORE (including your former addresses and former bank accounts and former employers and....your entire life history is in their computer already)

i’m still uncertain just what advantage joining really has, since all responsible banks (yes) will not try to hold you to pay for fraudulent charges anyway.. but we signed up
