They're givin a scenerio or even a set of facts and they re-word it to adjust for their agenda.
No one here has said nor implied that the cop should commit suicide (see? I can re-arrange the thought pattern too .. )
If that cop responded to his training, his training overrode and superceded the ability to think rationally.
My bother, one of Boston's finest, dead now some 20 years, loved to fight.
He'd tell us stories (and practice with his claw, now outlawed, on us,) his younger brothers and being stationed at 13, in JP, had plenty of opportunity to tumble.

That carried over to the Navy when ‘escorting’ a thief or someone with roaming hands to the showers to get his ‘deckplate justice’ shower administered by those that shared his living space.....
At mast, the Capt would ‘always’ say “What happened to SN Jones?” With the answer being “Sir! SN Jones must have fallen up the ladder on his way to the shower”.
“OK”....
Course I am sure SN Jones didn’t really care (at that point) that 30 years prior he would more than likely have been the ‘leading character’ in a Man Overboard Drill...that is if someone would have spotted his sorry self after being thrown over the side.
