Thanks for the research on that. Yes they WOULD be happy to surrender to the Americans rather than the Soviets. They obviously knew that the Americans would treat them justly. And while they had lost, at least the war was over. I wonder how many of them had given up on Hitler’s vision years ago anyway - but they still had to fight.
Did you see what looked like the first all terrain vehicle(ATV)? German half tracks look so much better than ours...

He was a SS Officer. I doubt that he was over joyed when he found out all SS, regardless of where they fought, were treated as war criminals.
SS Truck drivers were treated the same as a Camp Guard.
Yes I did; the wife & I both did a double take when it went by; even skipped back to get another look.
Ditto the trike with 2 fronts & single rear wheel.
