My family doctor of over 12 years "retired" from practice at the end of last year. In his letter to his patients, he wasn't subtle about a main reason being radical changes in the healthcare industry starting in 2014.
Since then, I've searched the directory of my insurer's website for a replacement, with little luck. Call me an "Islamophobe," but I refuse to establish a doctor/patient relationship with someone with a Muslim-sounding name, which now seem to proliferated in the directory under these bottom-of-the-barrel street corner emergency clinics (which I consider training grounds.) When I called several safe-sounding doctors after doing some cursory research, I learned that they were no longer in practice either.
This is getting really scary. Has anyone else had a similar experience since last year and are finding themselves doctor-less for the first time in their life?
Damn Obama!!!

Too late. I got the flu.
Don’t complain. You’ll be death paneled.
Wasn’t one of the stated advantages of Obamacare was to reduce emergency room visits? Guess where all the people in your situation will have to go when ill?
Muslim sounding names? Are you sure they are not from India?
Poverty sucks. Enjoy what you have left of your life and cherish those around you.

That’s the key to surviving the “very popular” ObamaCare. Never get sick.
I think you are being a bit ridiculous, frankly. Just because someone has a Muslim name does not mean he is a poor doctor.
I recognize the difference. However, the Indian names were all under the “drive thru” clinic umbrellas. Not very encouraging.
Good advice. Thanks.
Let us all thank Willard-the-RAT ROmney for beginning
this as RomneyCARE. Massachusetts LEADS as the highest
costs, and long waits since the Romney and Scott Brown
(also voting for this) began this travesty.
I fully understand. The doctors my elderly parents see are Indian. There are few if any American doctors remaining that accept Medicare in East Texas. They are not bad but it is frightening to see how dependent on foreigners America has become to provide medical services. Worse, my father has an affirmative action cardiologist. Please don’t get me started on the dreadful ‘care’ he receives from that lout. Working on finding another one.
Our biggest clinic in town has a sign when you walk in the door, they will not accept insurance from the exchanges.
That probably eleminates half the doctors in town.
Sorry to hear you are having such troubles..
I haven’t been to my GP in over 3 years..
Wishing you the best of luck!
The problem the insurance groups have, is you can’t send patients to where the care is cheapest. Therefore, you have to bring the cheapest healthcare providers here. Kinda the opposite of outsourcing manufacturing to China.
I’m just going to be very frank here and it may offend you or others, and I’m sorry if it does but if you want medical care you are being ridiculous to discard people with “Muslim sounding names”.
I have had some of the best care from 2 doctors with “Muslim sounding names”. I mean, you don’t know where they come from unless you ask! One doctor I had came from Nigeria and he was marvelous.
Are you also adverse to seeing black doctors? Or women? It’s very similar - discrimination or prejudice makes you the loser in medical care.
The Doctor I had used for many years closed his practice around five years ago. Finding another one was more trouble than I would have thought. Two local ones simply said they were not taking on any more patients.
I finally found one I like but he has too many patients. It is always a two hour visit.
In the mean time I had used the emergency room a couple of times. Once the Dr. looked like he had just come from Saudi Arabia but in fact he was quite pleasant and frankly was clearly very intelligent. The other one resembled the Shah of Iran and was just plain rude. He did not really look Arabic but had a Muslim name.
Ah, when the “discrimination” and “prejudice” cards come out, you show yourself as a leftist troll. Get lost.
GET LOST!!!!!
