A controversial new study claims that decisions made by women when they are pregnant can affect their babies brains including determining their sexuality, intelligence and chances of developing autism.
The suggestion that the lifestyle of an expectant mother can affect their offsprings development has been put forward in Professor Dick Swaabs new book, We Are Our Brains.
The professor of neurology at Amsterdam University claims that the chance of having a child who is gay can be determined by a range of factors, including how stressed pregnant women are, as well as whether they smoke and their exposure to amphetamines.
Pre-birth exposure to both nicotine and amphetamines increases the chance of lesbian daughters, said Swaab. Pregnant women suffering from stress are also more likely to have homosexual children of both genders because their raised level of the stress hormone cortisol affects the production of fetal sex hormones.

Oh, I don’t know. Prenatal determinism gives you the same result as genetics, if your goal is to “prove” that homosexuals have no choice in their behavior.
The problem with homosexuality as 100% genetically driven is that it’s very difficult to imagine how the trait is perpetuated, unless the person could, in fact, deliberately choose to engage in procreative intercourse ... which blows your “no choice” argument.
The flip side of all this is, of course, that mothers may be encouraged to abort suspected “gay” fetuses no matter the suspected “cause”.
That would be interesting. Hate speech, maybe? It’s interesting that the proliferation of “disability rights” for nuts like transsexuals hasn’t affected the pressure to abort children with Down Syndrome or spina bifida.
Would a doctor push aborting a child who might have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome? What if alcohol consumption really meant a child would probably be homosexual? Can you file a “wrongful birth” claim if the boy turns out to be homosexual when he’s 20?
I noticed that too.
But you beat me to it.
Why don’t they just simplify things and say that smoking causes everything you might consider unwanted. Had a great uncle who smoked cigarettes, chewed tobacco, and smoked a pipe. Died at ninety-seven. Also had an aunt who chained smoked while pregnant and had three very robust children. The last when she forty-three.
Even caused George Burns to live to 100.
When I watch movies from the forties and people are sitting around talking and smoking they look free to me. Freedom. I think I vaguely remember that.
HA HA HA!!!!!
The flip side of all this is,
= = = = = = = = = =
Now that you mention the ‘flip’ side, I thought that sex in the late pregnancy was the ‘cause’ of it.
Getting ‘poked’ with that thing makes the ‘boys’ like it and the ‘girls’ wanting nothing to do with it.
Strictly Scientific theory mind you. <: <:
Ping for later
The "real" history doesn't matter, it's the graduates of the Woodrow Wilson school of history revisionist, that matter's.
Well as someone born 1953, attended a high school, where my class (of 1971) was the last full time students of two buildings that were turned into two separate HIGH SCHOOLS. class size consisting of just 12th grader's approx. 1000, if you include 10th grade + 11th grade + 12th grade over 3000.
See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brentwood_High_School_(Brentwood,_New_York)
Brentwood {Long Island, New York} High School began with the Ross Building, with its tennis courts and state of the art swimming pool. It was named for William H. Ross, M.D., psychiatrist, founder in 1898 of the Ross Health Resort (now Ross Healthcare, still located on Suffolk Avenue).[citation needed]
The Sonderling Building was completed and open for students in September 1964.
How come I don't know, or see a lot of gay people, smoking & drinking while pregnant was very prevalent during the early 1960's to the mid 1970's.
Must be the newer math that only counts.
