Super Bowl XLVIII: Denver's Surgical Passing Attack vs. Seattle's Brash Secondary
Breitbart ^ | January 19, 2014 | Tony Lee

Posted on 01/19/2014 11:12:38 PM PST by This Just In

"Omaha" versus "You mad, bro?"

Super Bowl XLVIII between the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks is setting up to be a classic contest in which the surgical Peyton Manning will try to perhaps cap off his career and legacy against the brash--and best (ask Richard Sherman)--Seattle secondary that has smothered the league's best wide receivers all season long.

Simply put, the league's top offense (Denver) will face the league's top defense (Seattle). Something has to give.

Might not mean much, but we (Seattle) cleaned Denvers clock pre-season 40-10

Well find out whether or not the pre-season was a taste of things to come, or a lucky day for Seattle.

What gets me is people keep talking about it like it’s some kind of fluke.

IIRC, Seattle has been their NFC divisional champs something like 6 out of the last 8 years.

Manning has seen this “brash” crap before and eaten it up. He is too smart for these knuckle draggers to stop.

True enough!

I think this could end up being a very good SB.

I HOPE the refs let them play, and at this point, I’m confident enough in both teams to look forward to a fair, gentlemanly game, where each play their best!

I’ve never been one to admire talkers-even if they could back up the hype. I admire Manning for his focus. Generally, he lets his game do the talking.

This match up reminds me of the scene in Fried Green Tomatoes when the young chicks whip into a parking spot in front of a middle aged woman. The middle aged woman just crashes the car out of the way and takes the parking spot.

Go Peyton...hang tough Denver defense!!!

I like Manning’s manner win or lose after the games. He never rushes off the field, ignoring handshakes, like some others. Brady did accept a couple handshakes, including Manning’s.

Well, I’m a Seattle fan, live here and have been to a couple games, back in Kingdome days.

And there were a couple calls (or lack of them) today that seemed to benefit Seattle, and I was starting to think “I hope we don’t win this way...”

But Wilson, Lynch, and the receivers made up for that and took the lead.

And the defense hammered it home. Seattle special teams have always been worth watching, but this defense is the best I’ve seen in the NFL in years.

So it wasn’t the purtiest game I ever watched, but both teams played their butts off, and Seattle seized (and deserved) the win!

Broncos won’t need that much defense (as usual) It’s all about the man (Manning) on offense.

We’re winning BIG TIME!

Huh? This is Seattle’s second time there, the first being in 2005-2006 season where we won.

Interesting stat on Richard Sherman. This season he was thrown at 58 times. 8 of those were interceptions.

Manning was playing defense today as much as he was playing offense. He put together long time consuming drives that kept Brady sitting on the sideline. Broncos had the ball ten minutes more than the Patriots. The Seahawks defense will have to match his precision in order to get Manning off the field.

Manning knows how to win. That’s what he does.... Seahawks seem to know how to lose the big games. Still, congrats to them for beating out the rest of the NFC this year.

IMO, the Patriots would beat Seattle in the SB too if it had turned out that way.

Richard Sherman was in “Beast Mode” when he made his remark about Crabtree. I imagine Crabtree was spewing out his nastiness at Sherman throughout the game. That end of game swat on Sherman’s helmet by Crabtree may have caused Sherman to let loose.

49ers deserved it. They are the most classless, trash-talking team in the league and get away with more cheap shots and penalties than any team in the league.

And that little mobster Eddie D is probably still greasing the refs.

Anyone that would bribe a sitting governor with 400k cash for a Riverboat Gambling License isn’t beyond fixing a few playoff and Super Bowls.

Living in the Bay Area, I’ve heard all kinds of stories about this little mobster and seen way too many fishy games to know that it’s more than just luck or coincidence.

The 49ers have been penalized draft picks for cheating the salary cap for paying players under the table and probably still are.

How are guys like NaVarro Bowman and Patrick Willis playing for 6-7 Million a year when top ILB’s are making 2x as much?

He’s probably still running two sets of books to fit the payroll under the salary cap.

If the refs ever start calling defensive holding, Seattle is toast. If the NFL is not enforcing those penalties, the rule should be changed for everyone, not just Pete Carroll.

He is too smart for these knuckle draggers...
+++++
You’re exactly right, you’ll notice when he goes back to the bench after a series of play he doesn’t just sit there. He is going over the stills or on the phone. He’s totally involved in the game on field and off.

Unlike a quarterback like Brady after a bad series just sits there pouting like a spoiled child.

Now if only they would do something about those referees with their openly bad calls and late flags. I won’t go so far to say organized crime may be involved with certain players and refs but their fingers are in all sports.

While in the end it was Kaep’s two interceptions that cost S.F. that game, that was the worst officiating I’ve ever seen in a playoff game ever. I thought it was supposed to be the “best of the best” handling these playoff games? We sure didn’t see that last night. Those zebras were a disgrace. And I didn’t realy care who won so I didnt’ have a dog in the fight - my vitriol is not a result of sour grapes.

Maybe this time the referees will give Seattle a chance, do some honest refereeing, and not throw the game like they did with the Steelers. Seattle won that game fair and square, but the NFL wasn’t going to be happy with the result.

Biggest laugh was the NEW penalty when the quarterback got a flag thrown when he tackled the guy who intercepted his pass. No such rule anywhere.

C’mon, NFL. Let the players play. Actually, I don’t see how Seattle has a chance with the Broncos.

Everyone’s commenting on Sherman’s post-game rant, while forgetting his behavior that drew an Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty. Running up to an opponent and making a ‘choke’ sign is hardly the behavior the NFL should want associated with their brand.

Before you kill the Redskins, try getting rid of the thugs.
