I'm super happy with the outcome, being a Washington State citizen and Seahawks fan.

This will probably one of those games that I don't know who I'm for until the game begins and I feel myself rooting for one or the other. Sometimes that even changes during the game if I see something I don't like.

Against any other team I would be rooting for the Seahawks because I thought they got robbed by the refs the last time they got to the Super Bowl

The only robbery I saw was James Harrison's 100 yard pick six to end the 1st half. ;~))

As to officiating, yesterdays San Fran / Seattle game might be the worst I ever saw --- all in Seattle's favor. Roughing the punter... missing a clear fumble recovery --- numerous holding/pass interference non-calls.

The refs were very kind to the Seahawks yesterday.

There was also a ‘horse collar’ tackle by Pittsburgh that wasn’t called.

Well, since they are both old AFL west rivals to my Chiefs I’m having a tough time picking.

The Seahawks never were in the AFL, as they were a post-merger expansion team. In fact, they were in the NFC West before their long run in the AFC West.

Sorry I meant AFC. I knew they weren’t in the AFL.

I know. I was just having some fun. I also still harbor resentment against teams that a pure expansion franchises (NFL-post AAFC, not counting the AFL, which was a legit league. That would include Cowboys, Vikings, Falcons, Saints, Seahawks, Bucs, Panthers, Jags, Browns, among others)

"What was Sherman saying after the game. I couldn’t make any sense of it. Did someone say something about Sherman before the game that caused the rant?"

According to a report on ESPN, the feud between Sherman and Crabtree goes back to an Arizona charity event where both were appearing. In Sherman's version, he tried to be friendly with Crabtree, and Crabtree replied with insults and football smack-talk. I repeat, that is only Sherman's version.

"The hawks are old AFL rivals to the Chiefs?"

For many years, the Hawks were in the AFC in the same division as KC, Denver, and Oakland.

Regarding the roughing the punter call, a penalty WAS called, and I think it was the right call. I disagree with Pereira's take. The Seahawk hit the ground couple of feet in front of the kicker, bounced a bit when he hit the turf, and barely made contact with the toe of the kicker, who actually was the one who initiated the contact. It was very minor contact, NOT the kind of dangerous hit to the planted foot that justifiably earns a 15-yard penalty. As for the muffed call on the fumble, it (fortunately) ended up being a moot point, as the Hawks fumbled again a play or two later and lost the ball. As for grabbing and holding not being called, how do you think Denver protects Manning so well?

Not!

The worst officiating game was the Seattle/Steeler Stuporbowl where touchdowns were given to Pittsburgh like candy, and fouls were charged against the Seachickens where no fouls could be seen in replay...

It’s interesting to note that only Seattle fans see the roughing/running into call from the game as correct.

If the interpretation applied is correct, then I hope the Seattle punter becomes the poster boy for changing the rule.

Even the announcers were aghast at the call.

BTW - The player’s SHOULDER PADS contacted the ANKLE of the plant foot of the punter, after the punter brought his weight down to plant his spikes. So your description is also incorrect.

In addition to what’s posted below, Rush said that the two nearly came to blows in a celbrity golf game, once.

Harumph! The Weehawks took our best safety/cover guy in the expansion draft (Los Angeles Rams' Ken Geddes). - I still hate them for that

I predict we get even though next year when Johnny Football refuses to sign with the Paul Brownies and signs with the (new) Los Angeles Rams in 2015!!

Must be gettin’ old—been watching the NFL religiously since 1972, and how that slipped my mind I don’t know. Reminds me of the Saints—for some reason they just never, ever, ever seemed like an NFC team to me, but (watch me be wrong on this one, too) that’s what they are and have always been.

Sherman claims that he went over to Crabtree and said, Good game!. I am sure he did, but when you consider that Sherman was the guy who deflected the ball that Crabtree was trying to catch, and that the interception pretty much ended the game. that “good game” was exactly sincere.

I read that Sherman’s brother said that Crabtree was tried to start a fight with Sherman at the Arizona affair and that Sherman promised that he was going to show Crabtree up on the playing field. I guess he did that and was bragging about it.

I don’t really care. I’m a Seahowks fan. The 49ers coach was not exactly gracious after the loss, and no one is making a big deal of that.
