It's time to treat cops like they treat us

What happens when we do? Watch.

Some states are worse than others for police and judicial tyranny. New Hampshire courts are barbecue pits, especially in Keene, New Hampshire. Vermont is obviously a rigged system. But I am left alone in these states. In the State of Connecticut cops will threaten your life if you are talking to elected officials about correcting the system.

Rhode Island cops want to arrest you for stupid crap like sleeping in public ... like at a public beach. A reason I never wanted to live in Rhode Island.

Hawaiian State and/or local Police try to sell weed out of the trunks of their cars and then want to bust their competition ...

Pennsylvania some of the worst racist White cops I have ever seen. I was told by a downtown Miami Florida police officer that I was the wrong color to hang out, I'm White. I traveled for months in Europe and the former USSR and had no negative interactions with police, something I can't seem to go a couple of days being left alone in the US pursuing legal activities, trying to enjoy liberty, in the pursuit of happiness.

I got pulled over for being a Yankee out driving at 5 AM in Mississippi. His tune quickly turned to alarm when he learned I was an insurance adjuster in the aftermath of Katrina and I had the power to turn him in or black list him if he had any sort of insurance claim.

New York City cops act like they would like to kill you if they can get you alone, or maybe will just shoot you for fun right in the street.

Not all cops are bad. The good ones seems to be the ones the bad cops target first. There seem to be more bad cops, or cops that just look the other way, than there are really good cops. We need to let the cops out there know that we have their back when they are acting for the public good, and that we will be on their backs when they are not.

“You should be fine”

You MAY be fine.

Fixed a minor syntax error for you.

And here I’ve gone close onto 40 years without a significantly negative interaction with the police.

Neither have I, but not everyone is so lucky:

Why do cops hate cameras so much?

Lived in Hawaii for going on nine years. This is the first I have heard of cops selling weed. A link or two to some convictions or arrests for this would be nice.

Lived on two different islands and counties, so think it would have garnered some attention somewhere along the line.

No great fan of cops in general, but false accusations are bogus. There is enough real stuff to nail them on.

Cops sure hate the dreaded video camera because they are criminals that don’t want to get caught and lose that pension and job!

My local Sheriff's dept is headed up by one of the best Sheriffs in the Country. I've had several interactions with him and his deputies. (no, not on the wrong side of the law!) All of them were extremely positive. However, interaction with the city police here and in other places by myself, family, and friends has been just about universally negative.

I don't know if we're just extremely lucky to have our Sheriff or if this says something about the difference between Sheriff's departments and city police departments.

It’s not my assertion. But I found this by not looking very hard:

Oh, I did find a Hawaii cop convicted for selling meth, and one for extorting sex during a traffic stop.

Not hard to find these stories. Hawaii is small though. I bet you can google virtually any State and find these stories.

Until police tyranny and brutality visit you and yours.

Then your eyes will be opened like mine were.

And you will discover, like I am, that it is too late for you and yours to expect any possibility of justice.

Dirty cop for sure, but nowhere in the article does is state he was selling it out of his trunk.

The Honolulu PD is indeed corrupt and very finicky about what crimes they bother to investigate if one of them finds out one of their extended family (quite common) was involved.

Again, do not care much for cops, especially the thug variety, but keep it real.

Cops need the cooperation of the communities they police.

Despite what all the "cop haters" on FR say, I am known as the self appointed neighborhood watchman for our street. I am outside most of the day and have asked the local PD to STOP at STOP signs if they want to write tickets for running STOP signs.

When asked what I meant by that, I told them to wait a few days. Within a week I had videos of several different local LEO vehicles running the STOP sign at the end of our street. I told him, videos don't lie. The PD chief had no further comments.

Again, the assertion that cops are selling pot out the their squad cars is not my assertion.

I don’t know anything about that.

You mean give em a hickory stick shampoo ?

They ain’t all bad and most times it’s our response toward them that escalates their behavior.

Sadly, dogs know nothing about tempering themselves.

You had me at

“We do need some law enforcement but law enforcement with a lot of common sense. We do NOT need millions of frigging cops. What we need is for everyone to carry a firearm. Guns make for a politer society. When only criminal thugs and jack booted thugs with badges carry guns nobody has any respect for anyone else.
We need the laws we already have on the books to be enforced, lawyering made illegal with and again... Common sense.
Until our society learns to cherish life and begin to care about one another the way we used to there is no hope. Corrupt cops, more laws, ambulance chasers, unarmed citizens and rudeness will continue to be in large part the reason our nation completely collapses.”

Nicely done/spoken!

“They ain’t all bad and most times it’s our response toward them that escalates their behavior.”

Institutional training and behavioral expectations have to change. They “escalate” very quickly and for the wrong reasons.

One of the cops in this video tried to put together an arrest “story” or justification on the fly. The other cop called him off. I am surprised this ended the way it did. Most times a crowd of drunk clowns like that get beat down. But I was happy to see them pushing back a little bit.
