I like oatmeal cookies made with honey and sultanas instead of brown raisins, and I like cochinitas-ginger piggies-just not very often, and nothing very sweet. And now that I’m hungry for one or the other, I haven’t got the stuff for cookies, and the nearest panaderia is 20 miles away-and they do have great piggies...

One of the dumbest political blunders, ever-it should be in the Guiness...

I had to bake for a meeting tonight. I volunteered to bring snack for our RCIA meeting. Otherwise, I wouldn’t bother. Being NIDD, I don’t usually bake. Bought stuff over Christmas to bake, then never did. If I want to indulge, it’s better to do so when most of it leaves the house.

I’m not sure what NIDD is-but the only thing I bake, as a rule is bread, and that only in winter, and I bake 2-I can almost always trade a loaf or baguette to a neighbor nearby for a dozen free-range eggs or a couple of fresh pork chops from someone who keeps pigs, and keep the other loaf for my use.

Sounds like a great plan. NIDD=non-insulin dependent diabetes.

I did not know that-have you known long, and is it hereditary?

I have controlled it with diet, till recently. In the past, I have gone right off meds when they tried to put me on them. I am hoping I can still do that. I hate meds.

I have no idea what “sultanas” are.

I hope you can, too-natural is usually best, if possible-things like that supposedly have a trigger-does anyone know what brought it on?

They are just golden colored raisins-they have a different taste from the brown ones...

Our roster moves seem too little too late. The team is doing a western Canada trip. Better them than me! I am already tired of winter. We have the chickens in the dog crate in the garage again overnight. I think they could handle the weather just fine, but they are pets so they don’t have to do that.

One of my daughter’s friends has a birthday tomorrow so we baked her an apple pie tonight because she said she has never tasted pie. We had never made an apple pie before and did the lattice top. It looks pretty. I hope it tastes half as good.
