(CNN) -- Police in Northern California have arrested an elementary schoolteacher after she allegedly brought marijuana-laced food to an after-hours employee potluck dinner.
Teresa Gilmete Badger, a 47-year-old teacher at Matthew Turner Elementary School in Benicia, was arrested Friday afternoon on suspicion of poisoning after a six-week-long investigation, said Lt. Frank Hartig of the Benicia Police Department.
After the late-November get-together in the Bay Area town, several people reported feeling ill, a police statement said.

Had I been one of the people who ingested and was poisoned by that crap, I’d have to be physically restrained, because I’d personally kill the idiot who did it.
A the kids of a friend of mine in NorCal have this lady as a teacher. Everyone is pretty stunned by this development.
I think she completely misunderstood the term “pot-luck”.

I don’t know what it’s like now, but pot smokers used to fantasize about doing this *all* the time. She probably thought it would be “funny” & convince people that it was “actually okay”. The unwitting people she did it to are, naturally, not amused. Then again, their minds don’t work the same way a stoner’s mind works, so of course, they don’t “understand”.
A person wants to do this, fine. It’s when they inflict it on other people that it becomes a problem. We’ve replaced discretion with exhibitionism & “We will MAKE you agree with us.”
Birds of a feather *should* flock together. They are certainly welcome to shun “the rest of us”- & that should go both ways.
Of course, none of those pot smokers actually did - who would waste their stash this way?

It wasn’t solid gold back then ($10/ oz, @ most, 45 a quarter for “exotics”). None that I know of, but then I don’t think they would have dared (even the adults).

The original marijuana “brownies” were actually hashish cakes. Slipped by Alice B. Toklas when a friend said “include this in your cookbook!” It went to print in England first, all was revealed to poor Alice and she got it taken out of the American edition. She never forgave the prankster. She was a life long Republican!
It was no surprise, Jones told them they were killing themselves.

:-) Maybe both. “Exotics” didn’t get expensive (the $45 figure) until around 1978ish. I was 20, give or take a few months. And in S Texas, I guess close to the source.
