Briana Benlolo, 21, and Tyler Johnson, 25, were shot by a gunman while working at Zumiez at the Mall in Columbia It was Benlolo's first job since she gave birth to her son, two The gunman emerged from a dressing room and began shooting, killing Benlolo and Johnson and injuring others He then turned the gun on himself Police called in the bomb squad to disarm the man, who was armed with crude explosive devices The mall will remain closed until at least Sunday Police say they have tentatively identified the gunman but have not released his name
There is speculation that the shooting could have been a domestic dispute between Benlolo, a boyfriend and an ex-boyfriend

Columbia was an affluent area. Lots of section 8 housing there now, which has sent the crime rate soaring in recent years.

If the post above is correct, the active shooting had ended 3 to 4 hours previous and the shooter was dead by his own hand, having targeted one woman and one man instead of spraying out at many.
Secondly, what is the reason for breaking the doors down and making the employees lay on the floor 3-4 hours after the shooting stopped? It does seem that they were checking for any more possible shooters; but they apparently used protocols for an act of terrorism like the Kenya mall, where there had been specific threats made and chatter detected from terrorists prior to the event. But this one had all the usual earmarks of a love triangle gone bad.
I, too, have been in police training sessions, but not lately. A lot has changed; but with it, common sense seems to have gone out the window. I trust you are not in favor of the overmilitarization of the police, TSR; so I'm just clarifying my reasoning here.
Of course I'm not. I doubt that every small town police force needs an MRAP. The inner cities, which are potential riot zones, on the other hand . . .

Possible gunfights, not knowing who the enemy is or what shape the threat could take--it's scary, and they just want to get home, right?
When I was younger, I used to be surprised more often.
Often the press will have the name before they have a green light to publish it, and will find a picture through social media or some other way whether the family cooperate or not. If notification of kin is what held it up, alright, but kin were then presumably notified of the two slain quick enough to publish. So it’s a big if.
More black on white crime - guess that makes it bottom story of the day.

Well Well Well, no wonder the media refuses to show the shooters face..they say his name but won’t show his face, now it makes sense..poor media, if only he were white they would have had themselves a feeding frenzy, going on and on about how whites are bad, but since the shooter is black, yeah this story is dead, they wont report on it anymore
Remember, according to Eric Holder, there is no black on white crime, and if there is, its justified, because of slavery

As bad as Obama is, Holder is worse. I don’t really think Obama is a racist (he’s basically a white liberal himself), but Eric Holder is an anti-white racist and it’s a disgrace that he’s the AG.
