Gay Marriages Interrupt Grammys' Universal Reach
Breitbart.com/Big-Hollywood ^ | 1-26-2014 | Christian Toto

While the Oscars routinely go political and the VMAs pull out all the shock stops, the annual Grammys telecast eschews overtly dividing moments. Assuming you don't mind musical genre mashups worth rubbernecking over.

Tonight, LL Cool J emceed another Grammys telecast aimed at the widest audience possible until rappers Macklemore and Ryan Lewis sang Same Love while 33 couples--both straight and gay--got married.

"This song is a love song not for some of us, but for all of us," said Queen Latifah who officiated the live wedding in front of a church-like setting complete a gospel choir. "Strip away the fear, underneath it's all the same love."

No matter where one stands on the issue of gay marriage, it's impossible to deny in an age of hot button issues it's among the hottest. The show's focus suddenly shifted from today's best singing stars to a soapbox complete with Madonna wearing a white ensemble from a rodeo exhibit. The fact that the sequence aired later in the show than an historic pairing of Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr also sent a message.

Hooray for gays!
Woo hoo!
Gayness is so cool!
I wish I were gay so I could be cool!
I hope all my kids grow up to be gay!
I hope I never have any grandchildren!
Homosexuals are so awesome!
Hooray, I say!

There, music industry.
Have I met my quota of celebratory approval for today?

It’s all about Tolerance™.

To a Conservative the word ‘tolerance’ means ‘casual indifference’.
To tolerate something means to ignore it, or at least not actively oppose it.

But to a Progressive ‘tolerance’ means ‘celebratory approval’.
To be Tolerant™ one must make it absolutely clear that one fully supports the idea in question. To be anything less than 100% approving is to risk being branded Intolerant™”. To be Intolerant™ is to risk being considered a Hater!™. And to be branded a Hater™ is a fate worse than death to a Progressive.

Tolerance™ also carries a significant amount of selectiveness. My folks objected to my wearing my Utilikilt™ while visiting them up in Massachusetts (a state well-known for its Tolerance™). When I brought up that point, they said that Texas was probably more Tolerant™ about that kind of thing. I found it more than a little humorous that Massachusetts libs would ever say Texas was more tolerant about the clothes someone wears.

Ultimately it's not a question of love, but Thermodynamics, a theory that Einstein said, "... is the only theory that will never be overturned on its own terms."

( In case there's any misunderstanding, I use Thermodynamics to refer to physical reality. )

YOU ARE CORRECT!

I must update my previous explanation;

It’s all about Tolerance™. (ver 2.0)

To a Conservative the word ‘tolerance’ means ‘casual indifference’.
To tolerate something means to ignore it, or at least not actively oppose it.

But to a Progressive the word ‘tolerance’ means ‘celebratory approval’. Casual indifference is not good enough! Even ‘friendly recognition’ is insufficient. Tolerance™ equals active promotion of a given position. To display anything less than 100% agreement is to risk being referred to as Intolerant™. To be called Intolerant™ is to risk being considered a Hater™. And to be branded a Hater™ is a fate worse than death to a Progressive.

Being upset that the Grammy award show was full of the gayness is like being upset that a giant pile of crap had flies on it. If someone is at the level where they are upset their wonderful Grammy watching experience was ruined by anything they might have deeper problems.

Johnny Cash has 19. He won them from 1968 to 2008.

Bob Dylan has 11. He won them from 1973 to 2010.

Led Zeppelin has 4. All ‘Grammy hall of Fame’, whatever the hell that is.

Kanye West has won 21 Grammys by 36 years old.

I mean come on.

Well put. I like your use of “celebratory approval”; it’s their tactic currently in use to shove it in our faces. First the Rose Parade, Today the Grammys, upcoming, The Oscars.

The American people love this kind of filth and yet when there is a school shooting or a 9-11 they cry where is God? The American people can call on their music idols and gods of celebrity to save them. It will undoubtedly be tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than it will be for this nation.

Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation:
Psalm 43:1

MAX:
Listen, Roger: did you get a chance yet to read Springtime for Hitler?
ROGER:
Read it? I devoured it! I for one, for instance, never realized that the Third Reich meant Germany.
MAX:
Yeah, how ‘bout that? Then you’ll do it?
ROGER:
Do it? Of course not.
The theatre’s so obsessed
With dramas so depressed
It’s hard to sell a ticket on Broadway
Shows should be more pretty
Shows should be more witty
Shows should be more...
What’s the word?
LEO:
Gay?
ROGER:
Exactly!
No matter what you do on the stage
Keep it light, keep it bright, keep it gay!
Whether it’s murder, mayhem or rage
Don’t complain, it’s a pain
Keep it gay!
CARMEN:
People want laughter when they see a show
The last thing they’re after’s a litany of woe
ROGER & CARMEN:
A happy ending will pep up your play...
ROGER:
Oedipus won’t bomb...
CARMEN:
If he winds up with Mom!
Keep it gay!
ROGER:
Keep it gay...
ROGER & CARMEN:
Keep it gay!
MAX:
Couldn’t agree with you more. And you have our blessings, Roger,
to make Springtime for Hitler just as gay as anyone could possibly want.
So, c’mon, do it for us, please.
ROGER:
No, sorry, Max, but it’s simply not my cup of tea.
Still, fair is fair, perhaps I should ask my production team what they think.
This is my set designer, Bryan.
BRYAN:
Keep it glad, keep it mad, keep it gay!
ROGER:
And here’s my costume designer, Kevin.
KEVIN:
Hello...
Keep it happy, keep it snappy, keep it gay!
BRYAN & KEVIN:
We’re clever, creative
It’s our job to see
That ev’rything’s perfect for Mr. De Bris!
ROGER:
Next, Scott, my choreographer...
SCOTT:
Hi there...
ROGER:
And, ah, finally, last and least, my lighting designer, Shirley Markowitz.
SHIRLEY:
Keep it gay, keep it gay, keep it gay
LEO:
I don’t think we’re getting to them, Max. What do we do now?
MAX:
Watch this. Roger, listen. I think that Springtime for Hitler
would be a marvelous opportunity for you. I mean, up to now,
you’ve always been associated with frivolous musicals.
ROGER:
You’re right. I’ve often felt as though I’ve been throwing my life away
on silly little entertainments. Deopy showgirls in gooey gowns.
Two-three-kick-turn! Turn-turn-kick-turn!
CARMEN:
Oh, Roger.
ROGER:
It’s enough to make you heave. Nonetheless, sorry, Max.
I just couldn’t do Springtime for Hitler
MAX:
Why not? Think of the prestige.
ROGER:
No.
MAX:
Think of the respect.
ROGER:
No, no, no.
MAX:
Think of ... the Tony!
CARMEN & THE TEAM:
Tony...Tony...Tony...Tony...Tony!
ROGER:
Ngaaaaaahhhhh!
MAX:
What’s the matter?
LEO:
Is he all right?
CARMEN:
He’s having a stroke...
MAX & LEO:
What?
CARMEN:
...of genius!
ROGER:
I see it! I see it! At last. The chance to do something important!
CARMEN:
Roger de Bris presents History!
ROGER:
Of course that whole second act has to be rewritten. They’re losing the war? Excuse me. It’s too downbeat.
CARMEN:
Roger de Bris presents History!
ROGER:
But maybe...it’s a wile idea, but it just might work...
I see a line of beautiful girls
Dressed as storm troopers, each one a gem
With leather boots and whips on their hips
It’s risque, dare I say, S & M!
CARMEN & THE TEAM:
Love it!
ROGER:
I see German soldiers dancing through France
Played by chorus boys in very tight pants
And wait, there’s more - they win the war!
And the dances they do will be daring and new
Turn-turn-kick-turn, turn-turn-kick-turn
One-two-three-kick-turn!
Keep it sassy, keep it classy, keep it...
MAX:
That is brilliant. Brilliant! Roger, I speak for Mr. Bloom and myself
when I sawy that you are the only man in the world who can do justice
to Springtime for Hitler. Will you do it, please?
LEO:
Please.
ROGER:
Wait a minute. This is a very big decision. It might effect the course of my entire life.
I shall have to think about it...I’ll do it. I’ll do it!
Sabu, champagne!
ROGER, CARMEN & THE TEAM:
If at the end you want them to cheer
Keep it gay, keep it gay, keep it gay
Whether it’s Hamlet, Othello or Lear
Keep it gay, keep it gay, keep it gay
CARMEN:
Comedy’s joyous, a constant delight
Dramas annoy us...
ROGER & CARMEN:
...and ruin our night.
ROGER, CARMEN & THE TEAM:
So keep your Strindbergs and Ibsens at bay...
ROGER:
I’ll sign...
KEVIN:
Sign...
BRYAN:
Sign...
SCOTT:
Sign...
CARMEN:
Sign...
SHIRLEY:
Sign...
MAX & LEO:
Sign...
ROGER:
Roger Elizabeth De Bris!
ALL:
Keep it gay!!

Homer Simpson: That’s all well and good for you, but I used to rock and roll all night and party every day. Then it was every other day... now I’m lucky to find half an hour a week in which to get funky. I’ve got to get out of this rut and back into the groove.

I watched this mess for the first time in years. The new acts in the collaborations, especially with Chicago and Metallica were at best marginal compared to their accompaniment. The guy that sang with Chicago isn’t fit to uncase Pete Cetera’s bass. I will say the pianist who performed with Metallica had some skills, but the instrument and his more classical style was out of place with Metallica’s genre.

As to the GayPride, non-Marriage unions depicted, I got up and went to bed after Latifah came out from the supposed ‘Pearly Gates’ and proceeded to recite vows. What a disgrace. These people were raised better than this...
