Why do they call it a “drug overdose”....these deaths occur with the same dose they took the last time. It’s a misnomer. Illegal drugs kill, it’s just that simple.

We had a local death by illegal drugs. Very sad to see a 20 year old dead. Family was devastated. CPR on a boy that young is very sad.

Sometimes yes, sometime no.

In this case, the drug being sold contains fentanyl, which is much stronger. So someone may take the same “dose” as the last time, but he is not aware that he is dealing with a much stronger drug.

Without any standards, the consumer is at risk. When I buy whiskey from the store, I know it is the same potency that it was the last time. It’s clearly labeled.

I would imagine some of the overdoses are from people using the same drug at higher and higher doses. And some are from using the same dose, but with an unknown-to-them stronger “batch.”

But in those cases, it wasn’t the same dose because it had other drugs mixed in it.
