Unlike many conservatives I've *always* loved *some* of the folk music of the 60’s.I don't always agree with the message but, somehow,I still love it.However,Pete Seeger...the “godfather” of modern folk (along with Woody Guthrie) was a rabid,in-your-face,Communist and for that reason I say “rot in hell,Pete”.

Pete Seeger - the smiling musical Communist.

He was personally responsible for the “folk movement’ which made pop music a vehicle for Communist propaganda, and he used talented musicians to further his evil agenda.

“Maggie’s Farm” was a direct affront to his self-righteous, imperious, controlling grip on the young talent of the day.

I do not mourn his passing.

I met and listened to one of his relatives in Canada sing his famous line, “I might be right, I might be wrong, but I’ve got the right to sing this song.” I pointed out that in Canada he didn’t have the right to sing the song, he had the permission and that it was only in the United States with its 1st Amendment that he had the right. Didn’t make me very popular.

In a different lifetime, I met him. Nothing much, but he played a little song for me when I complimented him. Since then, my eyes have been opened about what the American left is. I hope his family finds peace and turns from leftism.

The industry is crawling with them now. The patriotic conservative entertainer/actor/musician is a rarity these days.

—and , like any number of present-day Marxist hypocrites, taking advantage of a semi-capitalist system, he wandered the country obtaining “folk “ songs then copyrighted them for his own enrichment-—

Honestly, I won’t dance on his grave, but I’m not mourning his loss either. He had a love affair with Mumia Abu Jamal, Che, Fidel, etc. He was great granddaddy of useful idiots.

Never got into his music. Learned some 5-string from his book though. It was pretty good. Still can’t believe how The Weavers butchered “Good Night Irene.”

How right you are. The "reverse blacklist" against conservatives and believing Christians is far stronger than the 1950s era blacklist against Communists and their sympathizers. The only media venues where conservatives and believing Christians dominate are in talk radio and country music. Leftist led boycotts invariably fail when they go against persons whose market is supported by conservatives, most notably the boycotts against Rush Limbaugh, Chick-Fil-a, and Duck Dynasty. Conversely, ask the Dixie Chicks how well their careers went after they denounced George W. Bush in England.

I find it amazing that people like Seeger and Castro can live long, long lives and still not abandon the inane ideology of their youth, despite experiencing a lifetime of its failures. People who are genuine idealogs must be, in a sense, psychopaths.

Well, at least Seeger never killed or imprisoned anybody, to my knowledge, which is much more than I can say for Fidel Castro.
