Lawmakers: NFL Has Completely Ignored N.J. During Super Bowl Ramp-Up
CBSNewYork ^ | January 27, 2014 | Staff

With the Super Bowl XLVIII just days away, you’d never know it from the New Jersey side of this two-part equation. Some lawmakers say the NFL hasn’t endorsed any of its events, leaving New Jersey out of the spotlight and in the cold, CBS 2’s Emily Smith reported Monday. While the big game is being held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., some Jersey leaders said they are worried that the league hasn’t gotten the memo that this is not New York City’s Super Bowl. “It’s just not a feeling of … it’s almost like not wanting to be here,” Secaucus Mayor Michael Gonnelli said of the NFL.

Another example of NJers inferiority complex. Nobody is interested in going to some event in NJ. The actions is in Manhattan. The game just happens to be in a swamp in NJ.

Waaaa waas waas.... call me a wambulance. What a bunch of little ( you fill in the blank).

It is NOT the job of the NFL to make the host city feel comfy.

No, I can see the irritation. It IS NJ. What would NYC do without NJ next door to commandeer?

NJ up there has become a major urban area, so it’s not just a swamp. As for the rest of NJ, it’s quite nice. Worst thing is the silly jug-handle turns.

Well, I've been to E. Rutherford - taint nuttin there! Of course there is the World Famous "Tick Tock" Diner out 3W in Clifton - about 3 miles from MetLife but that's it!

Try the cannolis - theyre in the case by the cashier - "leave the gun, take the cannolis"

If the game was played in any other place with similar weather
conditions the NYC based MSM would be blasting the NFL for
booking such a venue. Frost-bite stories would fill the week.

Great minds think alike. Just use a “traffic study” to block all access to the stadium, then suggest to the NFL that a “small payment” might get the study finished off in 5 minutes. . .

It is. I am especially fond of Camden, because no matter where you are from (even Detroit or Cleveland), it allows you to go home feeling good about where you came from.

Just read that ticket premiums over face value are very low.
Apparently the locals aren’t too psyched and the fans aren’t traveling east in huge numbers.

Unfortunately it looks like the weather will be merely chilly rather than Green Bayish like I was hoping for. Predicted high is 41 and low is 26. After my current week that's run around in shorts and barefooted weather.

Yeah. I've even heard complaints about cold weather domed stadiums because the game may be warm, but the week of festivities is too cold to enjoy. I could imagine a game this week in Minnesota or Indianapolis this week. Brrrrrrr!

Pray for a REAL Nor’easter— -say about 8 ft. of snow followed by a deep super-bowl freeze.

In 1980, Pennsylvania adopted the ad slogan, “You’ve Got a Friend in Pennsylvania” to boost tourism. Not to be outdone NJ came up with the slogan, “You’ve Got a Friend in Pennsylvania - Go there.”
