President Obama’s wife, Michelle, is reportedly preparing for the end of their 21-year marriage – it would be the first of a serving US president – by immersing herself in a self-improvement programme involving intensive yoga, Botox treatment and plastic surgery. She has also been indulging in massages, manicures, pedicures, facials and haute couture clothes.

Whatever happens, they’re unlikely to have money worries. Literary agent Andrew Wylie estimates £12million for Obama’s memoirs and £10million for Michelle’s – the most ever for works of non-fiction....
