PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — Pasadena police shot three dogs, one fatally, after the animals attacked a man Wednesday morning.
Andrew Ross, 37, of Pasadena, was walking his bicycle just after 5 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Fair Oaks Avenue when the dogs “charged him from across the street,” Ibarra said.
“Mr. Ross tried to position his bicycle between him and the three attacking dogs … (and) at least one dog did make contact with Mr. Ross’ left leg, resulting in minor puncture wounds,” Ibarra said.
Ross climbed onto the hood of a vehicle, and a witness called police, who went to the location, Ibarra said. Ross pointed out the animals, described as pit bulls or “pit bull mix,” who were nearby.
“When the officers illuminated the dogs, they quickly walked south on the east sidewalk, but then turned and aggressively approached the officers, barking and growling,” Ibarra said.
“As the dogs drew closer, one officer discharged his shotgun multiple times, striking the three dogs,” Ibarra said. “One dog immediately fell to the ground, and the other two dogs ran south. The two dogs were located nearby and (were) taken into custody by Animal Control.”
One of the dogs died at the scene and the other two, who were injured, are receiving veterinary services.
The dogs did not have tags, and the owner is being sought by police
Why is the city spending money on vet care.
They should have been killed as soon as they were caught.
If they were dangerous enough to shoot in the first place.

Sounds like dogs that need killing to me. Don’t waste time and money, dispose of them, and then see if the owner needs the same treatment.

One out of three fatally shot? I’ve heard of more dogs killed on search warrants served on the wrong house. Better put these police on subpoena service until they up their accuracy.

buckshot. Strong dogs like pit bulls can take 4 or 5 9mm rounds before falling over. Since switching to .40 in a lot of cities, there are a lot of one shot kills.
And all 3 were hit, as it states in the article
