The tragic tale of two cowboys in love will made it’s theater debut Tuesday in Madrid.
It was a short story, then a Hollywood movie. Now the tragic tale of two cowboys in love is being reinvented again as "Brokeback Mountain" - the opera.
Ahead of its world premiere Tuesday in Madrid, author Annie Proulx told The Associated Press that opera presented an chance to explore the complexities of the tale in a way that neither her own story nor the movie by director Ang Lee were able to do.

That is just so wrong. The music is overwrought and seeing two dudes swap spit actually makes me nauseous.
They actually think this is some kind of artistic statement when it’s really a slap in the face of normal people.
No doubt all the people who race each other to the bottom to be the most tolerant will go see this nauseating display of abnormal behavior. I wonder when it’s scheduled to play at the White hut.

“The opera’s not over until the fat cowboy• sings!” (•or whatever animals he likes when his “ husband’s” away).
People pay money to see this s***.
Is that a regular opera or a soap opera? /S
Sheepherders that ride horses.
Opera is a wonderful 19th Century Western European art form.
It involves singing, acting, orchestration, drama, set and costume design, storytelling, dance, and real hand-made Special effects.
The problem that it is usually not in English has been solved with the use of projected subtitles.
People who love opera are very happy with the preservation of the traditional presentation.
However, the modern-day elitist snobs who are in control of the Arts and Entertainment Establishment seem to have an outright contempt for the traditional approach to opera. They persist in disrupting the flow of the original piece by inserting erotic dancers, naked slave boys, simulated sex scenes, and homoerotic to “SHOCK” their audiences, and promote perversion, never mind that the audience is there to appreciate magnificent music!
This latest atrocity is merely an attempt to further destroy all the fine and beautiful things in Western Culture.
