An earlier incarnation of the Rivingtons:

Roll On--The Lamplighters (an answer to The Wallflower by Etta James & the Peaches; in turn, an answer to Work With Me, Annie by the Midnighters)

Everyone wears glove on one hand.

My brother and I noticed that when they were on TV at the height of their popularity.

Incidentally, the pendant worn by the lead singer looks like a Jerusalem cross--a Crusader symbol.

(even the Turtles have their Doors connection).

Ah, The Turtles.

Went to HS with them. The band was known as the "Crossfires" in those days. Mark Volman and Howard Kaplan (the front guys) were fat even back then. Chuck Portman was the drummer, I think. Portman was a helluva swimmer as I remember. All nice Jewish boys.

IIRC, Mark and Howard morphed into "Flo and Eddie" some time later, still fat.

We Gentiles went to Viet Nam.

"What ever became of Paul Revere and the Raiders?

They were probably stranded by the Great Airplane Strike of 1966--as was I.

I liked to listen to Flo and Eddie on FM radio back in the Ford/Carter era.

Jimmi Hendrix made the song 'Hey Joe' famous...here are some people who did it before him:

The Leaves

Love

The Soulbenders

Cher

The Standells (American), the Yardbirds (British), and I believe The Doors (American) also had a version of it!

[ The Leaves- Hey Joe ]

...Thanks,..... I thought Lightnin Hopkins : 'Penetentiary Blues", was the base for 'Hey Joe" but Wiki says it wasn't made until the 60s by Billy Roberts...... you never know do you?
