TORONTO, January 31, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) The head of Ontarios human rights commission is defending the right of transgendered men to use womens changing rooms in response to a womans complaint that she was ogled by a naked man who was sexually aroused at her local Y.
In a letter to a Toronto Star ethics columnist earlier this month the woman complained that the man, who claimed to be transgendered, asked her uncomfortable questions, including if she "came here often."
"I understand that gender is no longer judged solely by genitalia," the woman wrote to the Star, "but does a brief contact with the duty manager mean that men not yet committed to gender reassignment are free to disrobe anywhere they choose?"
In a letter to the editor January 13th, OHRC Chief Commissioner Barbara Hall insisted unwanted sexual behaviour is never acceptable, but also charged that the womans complaint advance[s] some common misinformation that has caused serious harm to the transgender community.
Hall said there is no documented case of a heterosexual man gaining access to a women's changeroom by "posing as transgender," but charged rather that "a stereotype of connecting transgender people with wrongdoing and being sexual predators" has put "transgender persons more at risk than anyone else of being harassed, abused, assaulted, or even killed."
Hall also dismissed continued calls to the OHRC "to segrate (sic) transgender people into separate bathroom and changing spaces, for the good of the larger majority," as nothing more than a "practice based on fear and stereotypes.
She said such proposals are exactly opposite the vision of Ontarios Human Rights Code, which is to build an Ontario based on inclusion, where everyone feels a part of and is able to contribute to the community."
"The Ontario Human Rights Code exists to benefit all Ontarians," Hall concluded, "including transgender people, who often have a daily battle to overcome the barriers that misunderstanding, fear and intolerance cause."
The Star's columnist Ken Gallinger suggested that the man's behaviour in the women's change room was not only disrespectful but probably illegal.
"I dont know, obviously, whether the person you encountered was truly trans, or merely a poseur getting his kicks," Gallinger wrote.
"The physical evidence makes me suspect the latter," he stated.
"In any event, this persons behaviour was unacceptable and, arguably, illegal. I urge you to report her (him?) to the management. People like this cant be skulking around locker rooms, not because of gender issues, but because they have no respect for boundaries and could be dangerous. Be very clear about the nature of your fears; you were the victim of an inappropriate sexual advance."
Christina Blizzard of the Sun News Network was more strident in her remarks on Hall's response to the woman's story, noting the hypocrisy the OHRC is displaying.
"We have women-only swim times at an aquatic centre in Regent Park in order to accommodate certain religious and cultural minorities for whom communal bathing is a no-no. And the OHRC supports that," Blizzard said in a "Straight Talk" video segment titled "Political correctness shouldn't trump common sense."
"It begs the question: If a transgendered woman with a penis busts a female Islamic swim class in downtown Toronto, whose human rights take precedence?
"It was a question I wanted to ask Hall," Blizzard said. "Sadly, though, she did not want to be interviewed for my column Tuesday. A call to her office elicited the response that Hall said everything she wanted to in her letter."

This is what PC libtardism has wrought.
Soon it will be childrens changing rooms and then who knows what else
Used to be a guy in a girls’ room would be ushered out ( and if he tried it again, arrested). Now government ministers advocate for the sicko.
Keep it at HOME!
It seems to me that a transgendered person should be very loath to disrobe in front of anyone and thus expose their unwanted parts!?
I question the guys bona-fides.
I don’t see what the problem is. We let naked women into the men’s changing area all the time...well, we would but they never show up.
Affirmatively participating in another person’s delusion will not cure their mental illness.
More than once I’ve seen a woman enter the men’s room with men present because, as is often the case, the women’s room has a long line.
“It begs the question: If a transgendered woman with a penis busts a female Islamic swim class in downtown Toronto, whose human rights take precedence?
According to my bi-annual sexual harassment class, the transgendered person has the superior rights. If you have religious objections, they don’t count.
I think the larger issue is cultural. Do we still protect our female children and adults from unwanted exposure to male genitalia? Do we still promote the concept of modesty in not exposing female private areas to non-females? I sure as heck don’t want my granddaughter exposed to this.
"We've all gone crazy lately" Elton John
Ist that a fitting room or a rest room? I’ve seen both.
Good Lord what are they judged by....there is some other 'talia'?
We could end this all by merely laughing in the faces, very publicly and every time, people say and do crap this stupid.
Basic psych 101 folks. People go along with it to not be seen as outside the mainstream. So make mocking idiocy mainstream.
government now protects the perverts and charges those opposed to perversion.
look up, He’s coming back any day now.
That’s when I’d shoot the bastard.
A two by four would work too.
Here in California, it already is the law, passed by the legislature and signed by the governor. In Maine, their Supreme Court mandated it within the past week.
Someone please clear something up for me...If a “transgendered male” is naked in front of a woman and sprouts a chubby, are they truly transgendered? Or is this physical response to the “opposite sex” just a one off?
All this transgender stuff ...
so a guy wants to piss in a ladies room or change in a ladies changeing room, etc ...
NO ONE ever asks that question.
So I analyzed it a bit ....
A guy transgender wants to be with ladies because he's more comfortable being naked around ladies and not men ... right ?
SO DO ABOUT 70% OF THE HETERO MALE POPULATION
why don't we see lady transgender demanding to be allowed in men's rooms?
OK ... that's my rant ... it's all bullshit.
If I operated a gym and had to deal with these mentally ill “customers”, I would change the signs on the changing rooms. I’d keep the nice, big “MEN” and “Women” on the sign, but explain in much smaller letters that the sorting is by anatomy, not by gender, and that those with male genitalia must use the changing room labeled “MEN” regardless of gender, and similarly for those with female genitalia.
“If I operated a gym and had to deal with these mentally ill customers, I would change the signs on the changing rooms.”
My gym recently finished an expansion project. In addition to the two traditional facilities, we now sport a “gender neutral” room. I haven’t noticed anyone using it. Must be some big plans in the pipeline.
Canada...they are quite different up there.
Used to be a guy in a girls room would be ushered out
Those were the good old days when men were men.
I have a rule: I regard anybody who uses the words “diversity” and “inclusion” in the modern sense as most likely being a scoundrel. Liberals use those words as a cover to inflict their perverted views and actions on the public.
The liberals in the courts and elsewhere in positions of civil authority really need to be replaced with people who have at least a couple of brain cells that communicate.
I served on an aircraft carrier in the early ‘60s and there were separate showers. No one walked out of a shower without a towel wrapped around themselves. Same was true for my 20+ years at a country club, with separate showers and the towels. ....No one normal likes to see members of their same sex walking around naked; it’s disgusting to even think about.
Funny you should say that. “Laughing in their faces” has ALWAYS been my FIRST response to a situation like this. (And it HAS happened to me!)
You would be astounded as to how fast Derisive Laughter “Disarms” an aroused male.
>>”I dont know, obviously, whether the person you encountered was truly trans, or merely a poseur getting his kicks,” Gallinger wrote.
Technically, a “trans” is a poseur since they are pretending to be something they are not.
Naked guy in the women’s bathroom is just a pervert taking advantage of stupid liberal laws that ignore reality in favor of feelings.
Well ya, that’s the best option of course, but.... ;)
People on the right really need to read “The 48 Laws of Power”. Robert Greene. Get the book, study it and understand the way today’s world functions.
People empower liberals by always looking at their crying over trees stupidity and just walking away shaking their heads. They empower the abortion BS by being “above’ calling them what they are. They empower the Obamas of the world by letting BS trump bravery.
What they get for their inaction is an emboldened left wing, but worse, they have lulled themselves into a state of resignation and ‘do-nothingness’. It has devolved to the point where conservatives...YES...C O N S E R V A T I V E S...are actually afraid to say anything out of pure fear they will lose something if they do. Job. Friends. Personal Property. Afraid. Well many should be. When you have one side unafraid to do any outrageous thing, why shouldn’t they? Not like they carry the burden of morality to hold them back.
Power is taken. Nor given. If we collectively want back into power, we have to take it. And that means gutting the source of the opposition’s power.
Our own fear.
gender may not be determined by genitalia, but genitalia is most definatley determined by genitalia. there lies the problem
who you gonna believe? your lying eyes or your PC?
a weighty question indeed deserving much deliberation by the ontario government
“Someone please clear something up for me...If a transgendered male is naked in front of a woman and sprouts a chubby, are they truly transgendered? Or is this physical response to the opposite sex just a one off?”
That transgendered male is obviously a lesbian.
“That transgendered male is obviously a lesbian.”
Doesn’t Rush always say that he is a male lesbian?
Very funny but also very true.
The difference between the sexes in a (ahem) nutshell.
By rest room I was referring to where the toilets are.
Oh, that’s what I thought. I was wondering because the topic of the thread was fitting rooms. Sorry I got confused....
(I’m not the only once confused. The person in the story can’t keep straight what his equipment is.)
You’re right, fitting rooms was the topic but it reminded me of desperate women coming into Men’s restrooms.
I understand, it reminds me of that too. Often, in those situations, several men will block the restroom so the ladies can use it unhindered.
I was cracking wise about how we men are perfectly happy to have nude women in our fitting rooms, but I guess it wasn’t all that funny....
That girl just needs to understand that the dem is worse and lesser evil is what we need to WIN!!!
Josie's pretty amazing, isn't she? Check out the other videos on her site. I haven't heard such clear thinking about the concepts of freedom and liberty in ages.
I’ll check her stuff out. Her IDEAS...God you people ;)
Kidding aside, It’s pretty basic stuff. I’d bet it seems either ‘extremist’ or ‘revolutionary’ to a lot of people simply because they haven’t actually sat and thought about any of it. Once upon a time it was pretty common to hold such ideas forefront in everyday life.
But then the Stupidbowl, Iphones and Sitcoms pushed them from the general consciousness. I think Russel Crowe, lib that he is, had it right in “Gladiator”.
“Are you (we collectively) not entertained”?
The first girl raped in the shower will be charged with a hate crime
The editors really should have re-thought that first sentence.
That's one of the things about the most basic, fundamental truths. They also happen to be the most powerful ideas we humans hold.
As blighted and condemned as the landscape of collective consciousness seems today, I see a strong resurgence occurring in our people's recognition of those truths. More and more, the conversations among common folks seem to be turning toward the questions and answers that gave birth to this country.
There's a sea change occurring just below the surface of popular culture and current events that will soon overshadow them both. I believe we're only glimpsing the tip of that iceberg right now.
When you gotta go,you gotta go.
