TORONTO Archaeologists working near the ancient settlement of Edfu, in southern Egypt, have uncovered a step pyramid that dates back about 4,600 years, predating the Great Pyramid of Giza by at least a few decades.

Way back then, the 12-step programs had more steps.
What American would go to see it??
So how long before the “Ancient Astronauts” guys figure out a way to claim these were actually docks for interstellar space ships for green tourist to come see the sphinx?
They are probably working on that episode right now. I admit I watch that show when I can’t sleep, because I enjoy seeing things that I haven’t seen, it is my chance to play tourist to places I will likely never see otherwise. I do find a lot of humor in their conclusions though.
Did they find the 4,600-Year-Old Escalator Pyramid? It’s right above the Slide Pyramid which sits above the space craft.
Made in China ....
Nk wonder it crumbled ....
Sounds like a franchise operation.
Serious comment: looking at the picture, it looks like it was a rubble core, with exterior blocks facing it. I recall we were pinged to a recent article by an engineer who claimed this was how the larger ones were built.
In any case, I'm glad I didn't have to help build it: I prefer carpentry to masonry, having done both for a living at various times.
The claim that the Great Pyramid has a rubble core is known to be false, and was known to be false before he made that claim. IOW, I wouldn’t put too much stock in what he said. The earlier step pyramids were built of mud brick, rather than stone, and it’s surprising they haven’t deteriorated and “sagged” more than they have.
The Egyptian pyramid builders *also* invented bungie-jumping — of course, it wasn’t that challenging, because they could only fall 4 feet at a time.
Is that the newest Mars Rover picture depicting another boring natural formation?
Now that is one outstanding bit of historical trivia I shall have to keep in mind in case I ever become a contestant on Jeopardy
Oh, I was just recalling the article, based on the photo of this one; I also don’t put any stock in the “poured concrete blocks” theory, either.
