Bad dog! Car fanatic gives his pet dog away after she chews a HOLE...

A car fanatic gave his pet dog away after he was left distraught when she chewed a hole through the wheel arch of his prized £80,000 Aston Martin.

Builder Royston Grimstead, 42, was devastated when he came home to find his border collie spaniel cross Luce had chewed through the fibreglass panel of his luxury car - causing £3,000 of damage.

Mr Grimstead, from Chedzoy, Somerset, said he had already been considering re-homing the dog, which he said did not get along with his other dog, but the damage to the car was the final straw.

A dog behaviour expert has suggested it was likely Luce, who Mr Grimstead claimed had never chewed any of his possessions before, went for the car after she became stressed while her owner was away.

Mr Grimstead said: 'I came home and saw her covered in white stuff and I thought she had got a bird and it was feathers - but it was the fibreglass from the car.

'She had chewed out a huge chunk. I just laughed. I mean, what else could I do? I'm not a crier and she knew she had done something wrong because she had this guilty look on her face.'

My best dog, a rescued Golden Retriever, chewed the fringe off of a valuable Persian rug the first night we had him. I determined that he was after the label on the back of the rug. That dog just hated labels and would go after any label that came in his sight.

He ripped the skirt off of my couch because the panel behind the pleat in the skirt resembled a label. I told him not to touch the couch and I told him not to touch the rug. He never did again.

But, for the next 2 years he would rip off the labels from any toy he received. Then, he just stopped. He was probably 3, or 4, when he quit ripping off labels.

I discovered the damaged rug early the next morning, and I really thought my husband would make me get rid of the dog. But my husband just said, “The rug can be repaired.” We decided to wait until the dog got over chewing on things, and never did have it repaired. Now that chewed corner just reminds me of a dog I still miss with all my heart.

Actually the boxer we had once stole a big mac from my wife. Evidence - She saw a drop of ketchup on his lower lip and was angry at first but could stop laughing...It was her fault for leaving it within reach of Ikie....
