Amid continued debate over whether or not Sochi is prepared to host the 2014 Olympics (here are 15 alarming signs that Russia might not be ready) reporters from around the world are starting to check into local hotels — to their apparent grief. Some journalists arriving in Sochi are describing appalling conditions in the housing there, where only six of nine media hotels are ready for guests. Hotels are still under construction. Water, if it’s running, isn’t drinkable. One German photographer told the AP over the weekend that his hotel still had stray dogs and construction workers wandering in and out of rooms.

I agree. There are no doubt some problems, but there has been negative coverage of every aspect of Sochi since the whole gay flap started up.
They should pass out tents. That would be a truer reflection of their culture. Right?

Exactly. They were pissed off before they even stepped off the plane. Every hotel issue will be treated as an expose into the real Russia. We will hear about safety endlessly, yet they will bitch incessantly about the security forces being overbearing. If anyone so much as scowls at a homo or a moslem, or dares ask for their ticket, it will be an international crisis.
But in Rio it will be nothing but happy exotic fun 24/7. And im sure all the food, accommodations, and infrastructure in China were just like the Holiday Inn.
They should issue jet packs to the ski jump contestants and let the Biathlon contestants compete to "pick them off" before landing. I'd watch that.
Are they still planning to use snow mobiles to get the ski jumpers back up the hill? (just spreading rumors and fueling the fire). LOL
This just in:
American Media elites covering the Olympics in Sochi are requesting care packages be sent from America. They need food, water, shelter and electricity. But don’t send firewood, it’s illegal to import firewood because of the Ash Boring Beetle.
They should have foreseen this and arranged for some cruise ships to be just offshore so the athletes and spectators could stay aboard them.
