Report: California Craft Beer Boom Could Be Harmful to Wine Industry
NBC Bay Area ^ | Tuesday, Feb 4, 2014 | Chris Roberts

California's craft beer boom may take a bite out of the state's wine industry, according to reports.

Nationwide, sales of craft beer are up 23 percent, the Business Times reported, but are up 30 percent or more in cities like San Francisco and Portland.

Americans are also buying more craft beer, and with each six-pack of IPA purchase, that could be "at the expense of bottles of Cabernet," according to to Wines and Vines.

"High-frequency wine drinkers" are unlikely to be affected, the website reported.

Is this a new euphemism for Lush?

Stone (San Diego) is one of the best. Bell’s (Kalamazoo) right up there.

Good! Wine gives me a headache within about 20 minutes of the first swallow.

Beer be good!

Simple. A good craft stout accompanies curry or Mexican food (and any spicy food). Wine is for cooking.

You mentioned Stone Breweries. My son is coming for a visit next week and asked us to have some (Arriving on Sunday with no beer sales.)

I emailed him last night stating that I had bought him a 5-pack. His reply was that he hoped the 5-pack did not morph into a 4-pack by the time he got here.

The drought will kill the vineyards anyway. Get your craft beer made from recycled toilet water!

This is the "climate change" argument applied to the alcohol industry.

Climate must not change, and neither should anything else ,because we believe in evolution.

LOL! When I bring home a 6-pack and one is empty when I come in the door, I blame it on those darn stock boys at the party store.

Speaking of Stone Breweries, my son and I had an Enjoy By 2/14/14 (Stone) at the local eatery in Clarkston, Michigan after some serious snow throwing today.
